Who would be best to produce the I album?

With Genitortures touring I guess the album comes to it's recording stage or already is.



I thought it would be nice to use Fleming Rasmussen again,

but of course Erik Rutan did great on Nile's drumsound and the drumsound of Heretic is something that could be better done this time.



I hope I is gonna sound less digital more organic but still clear with lots of punch. Hopefully the guitars will sound clear very bassy and ripping and not clipped.



What sound would you think would be best and who would be best to produce it?

Of course this won't happen, but I'd love to hear LaurentX do it. Pick up the CD "The Link" by Gojira, put it on and crank it up and your balls will fall off. It's plenty loud but not squashed, clear, punchy, heavy, and articulate. Fucking great album too, their most artistic; their best in my opinion.

I would certainly like a warm, heavy, deep, loud, full sound on this one. I would enjoy an organic, living feel (but also am looking forward to the electronic bits)

I guess like everyone else I'm hoping for an organic sound. But not for it to be overdone. I would like it to sound full-bodied, but without sacrificing its structure and clarity.

@ Mutilator: "Not clipped" ... ??? if this happens to any recording of any band, it's bad and must be redone. I don't think I ever heard clipping of guitars on a record... maybe just a little but not much, because that would mean the engineer or producer should've redone the take.



I do agree that metal in general has become way too digital. Guitars sound almost the same, drums lose their acoustic and organic sound and the whole thing becomes very artificial. All the headroom is reduced to 0.000001 and there's just no air anymore between the instruments. I do think bands like MA have always strafed for different sounds and productions, to atleast put themselves away from the majority, which is great and I think more bands should find their own sound and character, instead of trying to follow others and being "the heaviest".

My guess is that Punchy will be behind the console again... I know the dude got bad rep for heretic, but Trey had the biggest hand in the sound of that album. Punchy told me H was the first album Trey really liked.

I'd love it if they would have a sound like a cross between C and F with a little more clarity.

no, not really. the only time ive ever been able to distinctly hear bass is when i have headphones on, and even then i have to remember to pay attention to listen for it.[/quote]



this + the only time I can really hear it really clearly is in "Place of Many Deaths" in the mid section of it, when he hits the low notes...

Yeah, bass on F & G can be heard but not that much.

H I can't hear it except as above.
