In the market for a new amp

It's been nearly 3 years since my half-stack blew out at my last show, with putting together another band and invites to come play my solo stuff I'm in need of a new amp and would appreciate some input from yinz.



Ideally I'm going for a combo amp, another half-stack isn't necessary for what I do. I'm open to both tube and digital, if tube something around 40 watts would be ideal. I'm not a tube purist and have never owned a tube amp, but I've played on many and dig them, although the somewhat higher upkeep is a very small detriment. I'm primarily going to be using it for blues, "electronic" based rock and dirty rock styles. Anything else I want to record (stoner metal, heavier stuff in general) I'll end up using the amp modeling on my computer for. I'd like a 2x12, 1x12 may cut it but I'd prefer 2. Here's a link to my latest song, to give you an idea of styling/tone.



These are the amps I've had in mind thus far;

Fender Vintage '65 Super Reverb

Peavey Classic 50/212

Line 6 Flextone III XL

Line 6 Vetta II 2x12 (I've had my eye on one of these for 5/6 years. Played one in Florida and fucking loved it. It'd only be an option if I can get one used.)

Peavey Delta Blues

An Orange or Green amp would be fucking killer, but I'm not working with that kind of money.



A lot of this is riding on if I can get a bank loan to facilitate starting to build my credit and getting this gear. If not my best option is to go with zzounds "Pay as you Play" and finance one of them.

DON'T get a Line 6, only if you want a digital sound.

I had some amazing experiences with the ENGL Screamer 50 top (for recordings), ENGL Fireball (the new series - for live/recordings), Marshall JCM800 and 900. V-Empire is also very nice, but it depends on what guitars you hook to it and how you play (like with any other amp).



I also heard very good things about Laboga!

As for a combo amp, Mesa has some nice ones. The ENGL Screamer 50 is also available as a combo.



Just try out a lot of amps in guitar stores with your own guitar(s) and see what sound you like best.

A Mesa, Marshall or ENGL would be nice, but they're all pretty expensive and aside from the Marshall not well suited to the kind of tunes I've been playing lately.



The only amp I can try out that I have an interest in is the Fender 65 Super Reverb. I'll be giving this a shot soon. Or I'll just get the same amp I've been using at band practice, another guitarists MusicMan, that has a hell of a nice feel to it.
