US folk: online shops/normal shops u recommend buy from?

Post by FUKKET »

Hey US folks

I'm about to buy this:

http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrackPro.html

just do be able to do some recording on a laptop - nothing fancy, just wanna be able to record my gigs, rehearsal and lay down stuff if i want

Australia is expensive & i want to see if it cheaper to buy from the US even when postage is added (if often can be).

So far I'm just found Amazon, but I'm sure there's shops you guys buy from.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/ ... dition=new

also, if you guys have had shit with this product, let me know what you recommend.

my brother has a Edirol FA-66(?), which is about $1000, but he took it overseas with him.... i used it once, it was good, but I'm not looking to spend that amount.

thanks

The fasttrack pro is supposed to be really good, can't go wrong there, as long as your pc/laptop is powerful enough for whatever recording apps/vsts you use.

Amazon is good, I've also bought stuff from music123, samash, and musician's fellating lover but I think these require you to use a US-based credit card for ordering, no paypal or foreign cards.

You could register the address of where you'll be staying as a 2ndary shipping address in ebay, and buy it through ebay US. That's what I always do when I travel to the US. Just make sure the seller doesn't explicitly say he won't ship to non-paypal-registered addresses.

Off topic: I sold my presonus inspire firewire interface recently. It was great but I need USB strictly now and I decided to go with a strictly guitar-oriented one for recording with amp sims, as I don't use mics, so I got a ghetto Behringer-type guitar interface for 15€. :redneck: I was gonna go with a line 6 or something like that but for that price I decided to give it a try. I should be getting it in the mail soon.

A few retail shops still sell the Inspire around here. You could probably get it on ebay. The Fireb0x is a higher end firewire interface from Presonus, but it sells for twice as much I think.

I used to own a Firebox too. I also adored that one. I sold it once my band broke up.
