PESTILENCE 2010 is:

Patrick Mameli - Guitar/Vocals

Jeroen Paul Thesseling - Bass

Patrick Uterwijk - Guitar

Yuma Van Eekelen - Drums

PESTILENCE is working on material for a new album, tentatively due before the end of the year. Guitarist/vocalist Patrick Mameli states, "The new material will sound, again, way different from the previous albums, and is going to top all previous PESTILENCE material, stated by insiders already.

"The new songs have the rawness of [1989's] 'Consuming Impulse', the theatrical [quality] of 1991's 'Testimony Of The Ancients' and the brutallity of [2009's comeback effort] 'Resurrection Macabre'. But this time we will try to top all our material by using the RG2228-GK [Ibanez guitar].

"Now we have eight strings to maim (y)our ears and brains.

"The RG2228-GK allowes us to come up with the most technical riffing, sick Holdsworth-like chords and mind-boggling solos.

"To complete this new material, we have the mighty Jeroen P. Thesseling with amazing six[-string] fretless mayhem and Yuma with his ultra-fruital and fast, off-beat technical drumming.

"So be prepared for low, chunky and a-tonal morbidity!!!"

PESTILENCE's latest album, "Resurrection Macabre", was released on March 13, 2009 in Europe (April 14, 2009 in the U.S.) via Holland's Mascot Records. The band recorded a total of 14 songs during the session at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark — 11 new tracks and three classic PESTILENCE cuts (as chosen by the fans) that were included on the limited-edition first pressing: "Out Of The Body", "Chemo Therapy" and "Lost Souls". Patrick previously described the material as a modern fusion of "Testimony of the Ancients" (1991) and "Spheres" (1993), but even more technical and fruital.

Joining Mameli in PESTILENCE's most recent recording/touring lineup were Tony Choy (ATHEIST, CYNIC) on bass, Peter Wildoer (DARKANE, NON-HUMAN LEVEL) on drums and Patrick Uterwijk on guitar.

that's a four hour round trip, tall order for a show you're not super excited about

I agree. After one gets burned by less than satisfying concerts, even the smallest of road trips must be evaluated. I can't say I'll ever drive more than three hours one way again, unless the show in question is particularly worthy. If I am still in this area when the show reaches Austin, I cannot say that I will attend. The drive is about four hours one way.

I disagree. Martin wasn't as good in Pestilence as he was later in Asphyx. (much to hastly sung)

Testimony of the ancients cannot be reckoned as a bad album. To me, it's even brilliant, equal to the thenadays quality of Death.

I understand you but I don't like Mameli's voice and testimony is too much of a Death clone album to me....

I agree Martin's Asphyx work is better, but in whichever band he sings he kills. I still hope some bootleg shows of him with Bolthrower will come my way.

Too bad he never recorded an album with them.

Ok liking a voice is very personal, but I think he about rivals Van Drunen's work on Pestilence in strength and personality.

Musically I disagree heavily about Pestilence being a Death clone, even on Testimony. Although both oldschool melodic midtempo deathmetal, Pestilence has typical riffs which I would like to call 'alarmfase 1 riffs' which Death doesn't have. Death was more into oldschool heavymetal kind of melodics.

Ok, although I still have to check Comecon, I agree on all his nowadays bands. I've never had the privilege to see/hear Bolt Thrower with Martin. Maybe he'll surprisingly turn up on the upcoming Atak gig since Hail of bullets is one of the supports..

it's overrated to high hell. when i first heard it after hearing people suck pestilence's cock and telling me how awesome they were, i was greatly dissapointed. jeron paul thessling is an incredible bassist and i think spheres is pestilence's greatest album, blows their other material out of the water, ESPECIALLY that pile of shit they put out a year or two ago
