I've been listening to Fear Factory since the last 3 years a heck of a lot. They're supposed to be coming out with a new album soon right?

It's done, dino alluded to it being released before summer festivals next year. They gotta milk the demanufacture 30th anniversary cow some more

They're looking for someone to mix the album, according to a new Dino interview.

LOL.

Ok, I was alluding to Rhys Fulber not being involved in prod/post-prod, possibly, which could spell disaster, as he has always been FF's secret sauce. We know how Transgression turned out :santa:

Ryeknow knows.

First three FF albums are godly, well, Obsolete somewhat less so. But Soul of a New Machine and Demanufacture are fucking brilliant. Absolute bangers.

There's no timeline where Soul is a better album than Obsolete. 5-6 bangers with filler galore.

Also give Mechanize a spin.

Oh yes it is. It's their best album. This is the album which I listened to on a cassette tape back when I was in school as a young teen, and it BLEW MY MIND. It was one of the very first exposures I had to death or extreme metal.

When I listen to those songs again, and try to remember what I felt when I first heard this, it gives me goosebumps. This was BEFORE you and I would jam songs at your house on your stereo system. I remember you first introduced Obsolete to me during those sessions. We jammed a lot to Obsolete. But the feeling I would get from that album was that it was a march in the direction of commercial mellowing when nu-metal was starting to get big. Listening to Souls, I felt a little bit of FEAR. Almost like the way you feel watching a classic horror movie the first time.

To me, Souls is the most death metal sounding album of their catalog. And I'm still loyal to that kind of old death metal. For me the specialness of this album is that it's a mix of both the memories it invokes as well as the hard-hitting freshness of a first-album during a magic era.

It's a pretty good album because of the 5-6 songs that I enjoy, but there's way too much filler that drags it down, and I end up skipping a lot of it. But those tracks, like Martyr, Scapegoat, Scumgrief, Big God/Raped Souls and a couple more are excellent. It's probably at No.5 for me if I'm to rank their discography. They really got better from there and found their sound, IMO.

Anyway, their only real bad album is Transgression. I don't consider it a part of their discog.
