The first forthright criticism from within T's establishment. Tulsi Gabbard should follow suit.

Post by Grudge »

The T administration's top official on counterterrorism has resigned from his position, citing opposition to the war in Iran, and urged the president to "reverse course".

In a letter posted on Tuesday to his X account, National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent said that Iran posed "no imminent threat" to the US and claimed that the T administration "started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby".

Additionally, Kent alleged that "high-ranking Israeli officials" and influential US journalists had sowed "misinformation" that caused T to undermine his "America First" platform.

"This echo chamber was used to deceive you into believing that Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States," the letter continued. "This was a lie. Until June of 2025, you understood that the wars in the Middle East were a trap that robbed America of the precious lives of our patriots and depleted the wealth and prosperity of our nation. As a veteran who deployed to combat 11 times and as a Gold Star husband who lost my beloved wife Shannon in a war manufactured by Israel, I cannot support sending the next generation off to fight and die in a war that serves no benefit to the American people nor justifies the cost of American lives."

Hilariously, like one hour after his resignation, bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea immediately goes "I ALWAYS HATED HIM! HE NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN HIRED!!"

Wish there was some journalistic integrity still around, and someone could have asked T as to why he was even hired in the first place.

Forget what I said about Tulsi Gabbard. She has become an opportunistic hack, abandoning all principles and making a 180 degree turn from what she used to say in the past.

"THAT'S A STUPID QUESTION! YOU'RE A TERRIBLE PERSON FOR EVEN ASKING SUCH A TERRIBLE QUESTION." or something to that effect.

not a day goes by that I don't wish that we had someone with more maturity than a 5 year old....

she has always been an opportunistic hack but there was a large corner of the alt-media sphere that refused to see it. i'm assuming marching orders since she was in omidyar's orbit and he threw a lot of cash around in that space, but entirely possible they were all credulous dupes out of the kindness of their hearts

Um, its my personal opinion that the dems are against the war in Iran. I would also add that they will go to any lengths to have the war ended. Including smear campaigning against it. Also, did the dems forget what happened to be the cause of WWII? Senseless killing of Jewish people. We cant let history repeat itself. I for one am a democrat so I can type what is typed with confidence.

Also, imagine being beheaded for your beliefs in other religions by the Iranian people. On top off all that, the Iranians rape and murder women when they dont get what they want or are not pleased by women. Also, T isn't even a loyal republican to her own party.

Im off the soap box now. Thanks for listening.

You're on a strange soapbox.

India's New Delhi is the rape capital of the world. I don't see you getting on your soapbox for bombing them. Rapes happen in the US all the time too. Don't see you inviting bombings on your own self.

Beheadings, I don't know what you're talking about. Iran is a much more civilized country than you think. The beheadings were happening largely in the regions affected by ISIS terrorism. Doesn't happen in Iran as far as I'm aware. The hand choppings do occur in Saudi Arabia by the way, but I don't see you getting on your soap box to attack them. Instead, the US considers them a major partner.

You can claim to be against barbarism and history repeating itself, to justify Israel repeating that barbarism by blowing up schools and killing children. It's just not a very moral soapbox, and leaves you standing apart from how most people and nations in the world think.

The cause? The US didn't get involved until Pearl Harbor in 1941 and by then the ethnic cleansing programs of Germany and Japan had been going on for years and were well-documented in US newspapers. You could even argue no major player in the war threw their hat in the ring to stop genocide, including the USSR and UK who had treaties and otherwise good relations with Germany. Germany just flat out broke agreements at every opportunity. Perhaps a little less confidence would be in order. :redneck:

The USSR and Germany never had good relations. The treaty was just a means to stall for time for a war both knew was coming.

yeah, that's a lot of conflation of postwar mythmaking with historical cause that does not really stand up to reality. allen dulles personally intervened to prevent intel about the concentration + death camps from reaching the state department, who of their own accord also turned away ships full of jewish refugees fleeing europe during the later stages of the war. and of course the very establishment of israel was a tidy solution to get rid of a population none of the allies were eager to absorb after the end of the war.

to the extent that democratic politicians oppose the war in iran, it's the same story as always - they object on procedural, not principled grounds. liz warren was just seen standing and clapping enthusiastically at the SOTU in support of a prospective iran war. the party in microcosm.
