You're all fooling yourselves. All of us here are fat and out of shape and that's the way it shall be, forever.

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
went running for the first time since the 4th (i don't count bullshit treadmill miles because they are boring and done out of obligation) last night and closed out the 10k. i guess adding lean mass has helped my endurance a lot 'cuz i added 2.3 miles without really breaking a sweat. now i just gotta learn to do it faster

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
Despite many chronic injuries over the years I still lift very consistently. I hit a 77.5kg standing strict press recently and also just did 140kg canary squats for 3x8 as my heaviest "light" day before beginning a push for heavier weights. Chasing a 200kg/double bodyweight squarsh if my knee tendons cooperate. Deadlift should already be there I just haven't bothered to test it.

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
I still can run fast if I want to but only for like 15 seconds...after which I will be slumped on a corner trying to catch my breath with a feeling that I'm about to regurgitate out my lungs.

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
well you do that for 15 seconds, and then a couple days later you can do it for maybe 17 or 18, and so on and so forth. until eventually you are running several miles.
i am a bit sore from lifting my baby weights yesterday, but if its nice out after work i will try and run a few miles

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
Today I did a front squarsh
For long this seemed impossible to do but the daily stretches bring some results. I felt my wrists a bit, I still need to improve and stay upright
For once I don't care how much weight is on the bar, I just want to get this technique right

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
Awesome! I used to love front squats, weirdly almost as strong as my back squarsh. With practice your wrists will feel fine, my advice is to think "elbows up" throughout the lift. Great lift for abs as well as quads/legs.
I'm hoping to get back into fitness shortly, I'm having hip surgery in December and after that I'll reassess. I've had a sedentary 5 years where I have never felt like I could push myself. I'd really love to get into cycling and indoor rowing again.

hip arthroscopy, shaving/trimming an area of the socket. I have an impingement that means it has been painful to exercise. I get around fine, can go hiking without any bother, but to push myself with any running, cycling, or squatting is painful

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
Hell yeah ninny
Front squats are a staple for me. I recently did 125kg for 6x3. I have done 150kg in the past and I'm clawing my way up there again after some recurring knee woes. Various lat stretches and literally just holding the bar with 40kg on it for a minute or two improves mobility with minimal effort.
I did some 175kg deadlifts yesterday before thxgiving closures.
Also did 62.5kg/135lb strict press behind the neck, from a dead stop off my traps, for 8 nose picks. Standing. Feels like a major flex, I probably have the lowest injury prone shoulders I've ever had. Casually benching 225lb for nose picks these days but I will eventually focus on getting it up to 3 plates when I feel like taking a break from olympic lifting, which takes most of my time and energy.

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
my buddy invited me to his gym over the weekend to show me around on barbell exercises, learned back squats and deadlifts and a couple others. i learned that i am very good on form. and that i can load a lot more weight with a barbell. i also learned what serious CNS fatigue is, hooooly shit i have been dead the last couple days
my numbers are not very impressive but i am clearing body weight and for a beginner that seems pretty fine

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
That olympic lifting must be challenging. As a non-olympic lifter, the timing seems crucial. It is also a sport, have you ever thought of competing?Lavabug wrote: ↑28 Nov 2025, 03:25Hell yeah ninnyFront squats are a staple for me. I recently did 125kg for 6x3. Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
Timing really matters, I'm trying to get a coach to help me with the timing in the jerk, which makes a big difference in kilos. I actually did compete once around 9 years ago as a total novice. I am much stronger now but still nowhere near good enough to be worth competing again, so I just train for the sake of it. Best snatch was 97kg and I have done 90kg for multiple sets of 2 this year. Best C&J around 110kg. Given my overpowered squarsh, in theory I should be able to snatch 105-110kg and C&J around 140kg. But I would like to bring my squarsh closer to 200kg (double bodyweight) before attempting a clean that heavy, if my injuries and age allow.
Currently spent the last 2 weeks with an inflamed popliteal muscle which made squatting to full depth annoying but it appears mostly fine now, just did 3x6 110kg front squats to start some higher volume and it was tolerable (other than the lack of breathing lol).
I have taken a liking to weighted dips and I am now doing around 3x10 with a 35# weight strapped to my waist. Hoping to make triceps extra hueg.

I achieved a lifetime PR in the push press: 90kg x 6.
Should be closing in on 100kg/bodyweight for nose picks soon.

hell yeah
lifting is mad fun, just start light and really get your form locked in before you worry too much about numbers/progress, your body will thank you later
also dont get too hung up over the number because it can get stubborn or go in what seems to be the wrong direction if you're both losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time, which is very possible to do depending on your regimen, calorie/macro intake etc

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
Made a 160lb x 6 strict press (standing) PR today.
After having done 125kg/275lb front squats for 3x4 so my upper body was trashed already.
Not sure what I did differently this programming cycle other than cutting a few sets but I seem to have unlocked something and I am gaining momentum.
Hope to land some more lifetime bests in the coming weeks. Shooting for a 400lb+ squarsh. I think reducing volume a bit at my age/experience was a good idea.

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
Forgot to post video evidence:
I think I started too old to reach my true potential in the olympic lifts cause of the speed/athleticism demands but I think all the other barbell lifts aren't as limited by age, just gotta put in time. You can do it stormy
I think my pressing strength is unremarkable at my bodyweight and there's definitely lighter folks who press more in half the time it took me to get there. Finding the appropriate programming at any given stage in life is more important than age imho, I hit a plateau with the press for like 5 years and thought it was over till I tried a few different things (namely assloads of sets in the 2-3 rep range, or silly stuff like 8 sets of 5, although this last month I have just been doing 3x6 once a week in addition to other heavier pressing things).

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
It has gotten huge.
Did push press for 92.5kg 4x4 today. Starting to get difficult now.
Been having some fun with grip strength. Did some rows with a 110lb dumbell with a "fatgripz" rubber attachment that makes the handle like 2-3 inches thick. Nukes my ability to play guitar for a while but it's giving my forearms some necessary girth.

a little bit kinda, for lifting days i wear chucks and the pairs i have are all rick owens collabs. not designer priced but probably a little flexy for the gym. other than that i wear arcteryx shorts and a band shirt, today was funeral mist
i dress very normal for the gym. as evidence i present the moment last week when i noticed i now fill the entire sleeve of a size medium

Demilich
I have like 5 demilich shirts now iirc. Some might be medium which I've outgrown. You're welcome to have them
I need to sort out some shirts I've either outgrown or have shrunk over the years. My habit of never throwing them out has become unsustainable.

frame-wise i'm actually quite small, at my lightest and before i started working out, i could comfortably fit a size small and sub-30 waist. my wrists/hands in particular are teeny tiny - i wear the smaller watch band and i use the fourth hole
deadlifts and squats last night, didn't push for a weight increase so it wasn't too intense. also did a bunch of grip training torture between sets. my thighs are big enough that they touch each other now

Re: Ein Physical Fitness Thread.
Took yesterday off cause stomach felt weird.
Achieved a 77.5kg/171lb strict press for 3. Took me 38 weeks to improve that weight by 1 rep. Pissed me off so much that I did 8 sets of 2 immediately afterwards out of spite.
Fortunately that is a good starting point for an ancient program I like from Doug Hepburn (8x2 progressing to 8x3) so that's what I'll do for strict press now.
This was done after 115kg 3x4 paused front squats and 2x8 deadlifts at 160kg/350lb ish. I imagine I might have had 4 in me if it was the first exercise.
