Was gonna go see Eivør / Sylvaine on Friday but the show actually sold out.

Will likely go see Decapitated / Incantation on Sunday though.

I missed the decapitated one here because it was an early show and I had some shit to do. By the time I would have made it incantation would have been a few songs into the set :homework:

Saw baroness the other night. First night of the tour and they fucking crushed it. Plowed right though red, small break where John talked to the crowd before they went into blue.

Seeing them do this tour in that size venue (200-250 people) was absolutely incredible. Go catch this one if you guys can.

Palceface Swiss was some of the most fun i've had a show in ages. just high fucking energy all around.

Machinehead was whatever, I really enjoyed In Flames. Lacuna Coil and Unearth opened and were also very good.

Obituary was fucking excellent as always. finally got to Nails who just crushed it. Terror / Spiritworld / and a UK band Pest Control opened and were awesome.

Obscrura / Atheist / Origin / Decrepit Birth / Fractal Universe - it was a fun show even though it only drew like 200 people.

up next: having to skip out on Milwaukee Metalfest this year sadly, have some commitments at home that prevent from going out of town for an extended period of time. hopefully next year.

Internal Bleeding is playing here in June, I'll probably hit that up.

otherwise no much going on this summer. I scored an Acid Bath ticket for August, figured that shit will sell out.

Saw Blood Incantation and Krallice a couple of weeks ago - great show by both bands. I’ve seen Blood Incantation before a few times but never as a headliner - it occurred to me that their new album is very reminiscent of Amorphis in a lot of areas. Never seen Krallice before, I was expecting just straight up American black metal but they were much more interesting some heavy synths played live as well.

Next up is Pantera / Amon Amarth / King Parrot on Thursday. Almost didn’t go since I saw them last summer in a club, but I said fuck it and got a pit ticket - AA and KP will be fun as fuck as well.

and then Acid Bath / Windhand / Primitive man on Saturday.

it was kind of funny - the venue/security gave up really fast on all the weed smokers in the audience, I got high as fuck without even partaking.

That wasn't really an issue when I saw them. It had to of been every bit of 100° inside that place though. Walking outside between bands felt like a 20 degree swing. Sammy even made mention of just how bad it was, something along the lines of it making Louisiana feel like reasonable temperatures.

he's said explicitly this is the last hurrah for the band in its current form, and that past this he'll continue as long as he can in more stripped down form. so i assume something a little more akin to his solo stuff in the hiatus years, but who knows

i am split on how i feel about the soundtracks vinyl, i bought it because it is a cherished and important album to me, and it is a very nice object to have. but it suffers the same problem as most of the reunion catalog on vinyl (none of which i own). the structure and flow of the albums clashes with the limitations of the format, so they have to shuffle and cut to make it fit, so i never actually listen to it on vinyl :redneck:

Went to see Alestorm / Gloryhammer on Tuesday - highly energetic and lots of beer was drank. Both of these bands are so much fun that even if it’s not really your jam I would highly encourage people to check out their live shows. I also don’t know what I did but near the end of Alestorm I fucked up my right foot good in the pit, can barely put weight on it. Also met Christopher Bowes (not the first time lol) after the set, real down to earth dude.

5th metatarsil (outside bone that goes to little toe) and right in the middle. I can put weight on it but as soon as I go to walk and bend my foot that's when it hurts. after a few days the bruise mostly went away but it still hurt like a motherfucka. what sucks is I took work off this whole week as part of a staycation and didn't even get to really enjoy it. but might be getting the next week or two off for this shit - so I got that going for me, which is nice. :santa:

Damn, hopefully nothing like that, got an appoint with an orthopedic tomorrow so I’ll know for sure.

On another note, missed out on Nile on Saturday but did go see Cannibal Corpse / Municipal Waste / Full of Hell / Fulci last night. The venue was able to accommodate my dumbass and I found a good spot in the back to sit down. All of the bands were excellent but I was especially blown away by Fulci who just sounded amazing, will def go see those guys again. Also, watching Erik just absolutely shred in CC will never not impress me! New hard-on bearer Brandon Ellis was also spot on!
