December Check in
It is now December. Let's check in?
i recently quit an office job I had, working for a Wine & Spirits Importer- didnt have anything lined, up but the job was literally destroying me...who woulda thought 9-5 corporate shit was not for me. I am now jobless, but I am transitioning back into retail and should be starting at this new store in a week or so.
How's everyone doing?

Re: December Check in
said goodbye to my 21 year old cat last week. her name was rae but i called her miss kitty. oddly she was not sick or suffering, she was just at the end of her time, her body was done.
my house feels empty. it's hard to put in words how i feel. i was 13 when she was born, i am 34 now. i've been working from home for the last 5 years and i live alone, she kept me company at all hours of the day. i will miss that little cat forever.

oh no! My condolences. That is a LONG kitty life, I cannot even imagine the loss...Wish I had some more comforting words. sorry to hear that zimmeroo, 21 years is a very good run. here's a pic of my sister's cat being a little bitch last night.

"wrap me up, i wan be a present!"
ok enough of that
agonybag, my bro worked for a corporate store with really strict policies, so he wasn't even allowed to do anything except stand there stunned as the gang lifted all the high end spirits. then just wait for the cops

damn that is a long life for a cat - you took good care of her! it's never easy putting down pets. especially when they are such a huge part of your life. even so, having them in your life is always worth it.AgonyBag wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 09:35oh no! Re: December Check in
I flew home last night after 2 weeks in the Chicagolands. Start working from my actual store on Monday. I'll be hybrid for the first 2 or 3 months, after that it'll be a full time remote gig. No clue how to feel about it honestly but the money is stupid good if you know how to hustle wholesale parts in the automotive field.

Is this about the roommate/fellating lover situation? If so...fuck that shit...Once I was rooming with people, and the hard-on bearer basically brought his gf in....they were like early 20s and irresponsible af. Worst possible scenario. My other roomie and I took $100 each from them so that we didnt tell the landlord lol...big mistakejawn galliano wrote: ↑14 Dec 2024, 20:30i have been drinking for like two and a half straight weeks and today informed the homeless interloper that he needs to plan for being either less or vastly more homeless by next friday. i no longer care how bad a person that makes me, i can't cope with this shit. so that's how my december's been going

Re: December Check in
yeah, my actual roommate (who lives in IL but still pays for his room for some insane reason) told a hard-on bearer he knows it was fine to move in here without bothering to seek my input or inform me any of this was happening.AgonyBag wrote: ↑15 Dec 2024, 14:01Is this about the roommate/fellating lover situation? he got evicted from his last place, tried to fight it in court pro se with the assistance of chatGPT, so you can imagine how that went. dude is severely delusional (has 'allergies' to every form of light except incandescent bulbs and his computer monitor, also wifi, and is 'scared of chemicals' which translates into him constantly removing the fucking dish soap from the kitchen whenever he's in there), doesn't bathe, only eats potatoes, as a result is chronically malnourished, and had to be coached on the concept of what garbage is and where it goes. and by his own telling, smokes about six ounces of weed per month (!). it's actually mostly just sad. dude can barely perform the most basic functions of staying alive, nevermind coexisting in proximity to others. he badly needs actual help, but he doesn't believe that to be the case and is entirely unwilling to recognize that fact.

confessed my feelings to a very dear f.riend last month and she needed time to decide how she felt. figured agreeing to plans on christmas day was a promising sign. learned today that, predictably, it was not. i wish i could go back to my former life where i didn't have feelings. it was bleak, but it was so much easier. homeless hard-on bearer's still here too. oh well

We've had many a chat over the years with plenty of ups and downs between both of us. Sometimes I am genuinely concerned you are gonna take a long walk off a short pier.jawn galliano wrote: ↑24 Dec 2024, 09:02confessed my feelings to a very dear f.riend last month and she needed time to decide how she felt. figured agreeing to plans on christmas day was a promising sign. learned today that, predictably, it was not. i wish i could go back to my former life where i didn't have feelings. it was bleak, but it was so much easier. homeless hard-on bearer's still here too. oh well

in my worst moments, i sometimes wish i could, but for better or worse my brain doesn't operate that way. we'll see where the conversation leads on wednesday i guess. but at a minimum, not where i wish it would. but until then i'm just basically confused, despondent and totally defeated across every facet of life. so xmas eve with a dozen odd people tomorrow is gonna be a real blastMethuselah Honeysuckle wrote: ↑24 Dec 2024, 09:23We've had many a chat over the years with plenty of ups and downs between both of us. To a certain extent I'm the same way. Guess you could say I take the long way to get there by getting incredibly self destructive with booze and shit.

the only thing i have confidence in is that my life will continue along the way it always has. which is of course the thing i've been working to try and avert. and all those efforts came to nothing, i'm right back where i started when this all kicked off in earnest just before christmas of 2022.

Re: December Check in
Look, this might not be much consolation right now for me to say these words, but it does get better eventually.
As I've said here, last year, I felt like a walking dead man after my divorce. For a while, I was truly shattered, with a dire financial and personal outlook. But if you have strength of character, you can persevere, as I did.
A year later after my divorce, I'm doing better now, I got remarried just 2 weeks ago, and things are going to work out really well for me for the future. Similarly, you just have got to think straight and find a way out of your quagmire and it will happen for you.

thanks bud, i appreciate that. something in me seems to have changed and the 'setback' no longer feels like that at all, after the initial dust has settled i actually feel better than ever about most everything. certainly some things i am still sad about, but they are vastly outnumbered and overpowered.
