november check-in
what's the latest y'all
i am in the midst of a storm of personal crises the likes of which i have never reckoned with previously. i am reasonably certain i will not emerge victorious from the most significant of them. uncertainty has a way of nurturing despair and many things hang in the balance between now and the weekend after this one. i am baking, drinking and chainsmoking my way through it. i hope everyone is entering the holiday season with high spirits and clear minds. i am not

Currently in the midst of thinking my resignation strategy and finding another job. I've been at the current workplace for more than 7 years and career growth in that company lately has been full of AIDS and venereal diseases.

Re: november check-in
I've been out of work since September 30th. Got let go for the one of the most fucking ridiculous reasons too. The tl;dr of it boils down to I was doing a bunch of shit that I wasn't getting paid for. Boss told me if I don't like it to quit. Got fired for looking for another job like a month and a half after that conversation.
Got some good news today though. Had an interview all the way the fuck down in Franconia, VA and ended up getting an offer sheet. So just waiting for all this to work itself out in the next couple of days. Still in automotive parts but it's all higher end aftermarket being sold to independent repair shops. Which is basically my wheelhouse as I primarily did wholesale at the dealership level. So I've got a list of shops I can approach all over this fucking state.
As it stands now it's a week of training at the Virginia location and I'll head out to Illinois for 2 weeks. Don't have exact dates for any of that noise just yet. Just ready to get back to having money rolling in regularly.

That does remind me, jorsh was going through a lot of shit too with his girlfriend leaving him for someone with more money. I wonder what he's doing, and hope he's OK.
For the two of yous, stay motivated, think about solutions and work towards them. There's always a way out of the situation. If you don't have any good ideas, present your situation here to see if we have ideas.
The storm will pass.

Re: november check-in
i know what i need to do and i'm planning for it. but i won't have the chance to act until next weekend, and that's not even a given yet. so the first thing i need to do is to just try and make sure the necessary time is carved out. and in the meantime trying to use the time i do have constructively
there's some work related nonsense yeah, but that's low on the priority list currently. other things which i will remain vague about are consuming pretty much every waking moment that i don't have a viable distraction, and will probably continue to for the next week-plus.Methuselah Honeysuckle wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 10:45Work related nonsense?jawn galliano wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 08:38what's the latest y'all

Re: november check-in
This past week has been rough - had to shell out $12k for a new boiler and chimney (gas leak was detected and we’re coming into winter so…). also been reevaluating my life and what’s important to me now that the future of American society seems rather unstable and unpredictable. Broke all contact with several family members as a result, deleted most of my socials, and doing what I can to protect myself and those I care for. Planning for the worst but still hoping for the best. We’ll see how it all unfolds I guess.

Re: november check-in
sorry to hear about your cryptic challenges stormy, do the things you must do. stop chainsmoking.
as for nick, sounds like a longer commute? but maybe a better job. couple of weeks in illinois could be fun. i liked me some city of the cubs hot sauce.
and as for the L JACK OFF, that sounds rough. i don't want to be shelling out any $120 for house stuffs let alone $12 to the 000s. no sir. after your reevaluation, i hope cheese is still important to you.
as for me, same old thing, looking forward to buying this new car, and going back to thailand to see my wife in january for a couple of weeks

Re: november check-in
Well, we're suffering through some of the absolute worst smog. Hit us hard last month, and isn't dissipating. No signs of rain either. The air quality index is well above 2000 on given days (usually is around 200-300 at this time of the year, which is still a lot, but records have broken in 2024). It's like a fucking post-apocalyptic nightmare out there, and we've all been inside our homes with a lockdown in place, and forced to pay to breathe by purchasing air purifiers (which I still haven't bought because of shortages).
So, yeah, good times.

I'd be mostly remote. Wouldn't have to be down in VA all that often if at all. Work from home and out visiting shops all over the place from what I gathered.
I'm just hoping I can get started there sometime next week. Waiting on people to process paperwork, background check, etc.

Re: november check-in
my absentee roommate decided to tell his insane homeless fellating lover that it's alright to move into his room for some undetermined length of time
i know i'm not the most hard up in this situation and i sympathize greatly but it would be nice if people at least considered that i am an actual person with thoughts and such. but since nobody is burdened by such concerns, i discovered this by said person knocking on my door at 4pm yesterday informing me that he lives here now
fucking christ i'm so goddamned tired of everything

You should have taken up the offer to move in as a tenant in my home for $900/month all bills included when I advertised it here.
