Are we having an election watch party like last time?

Post by Grudge »

In 2021 we got together on a discord channel for this. There were some audio issues but we made it work. What's the plan this time?

It depends on the state. Anywhere between 7-9 EST for the most part though.

i will be genuinely shocked if there's a definitive and accepted result by bedtime on tuesday. i will be very unsurprised if it takes weeks to months to sort out who actually won

My state is pretty sold on blue when it comes to the electoral college. The last time it went red was back to back for Reagan and Bush Sr. Even before that you'd have to go back to Eisenhower for another red electoral college result for Maryland.

Why stew? Why be miserable? Presidency doesn’t matter nearly as much as some seem to think.

in a vacuum i sort of agree, but a presidency being sockpuppeted by the paypal mafia which coincides with republican-controlled courts and a republican legislature is uhh, pretty fuckin' bleak. not gonna lie, i'm feeling the despair today

SCOTUS is the one thing that really matters on a federal level. Presidents matter for immigration policies and tax purposes, a few other various issues.

Most things that folks care about like crime and social issues are primarily state and local based. Most of us don’t pay near enough attention to things like local judge and state/city rep elections. This is the first election I did more local than national research in and it felt like a full time job.
