I’d so say. Yeah they have their niche group of fans but overall when discussing death metal, they don’t come up all that often that Ive noticed. At least in comparison to ny/fl/tx death metal

i wouldn't call LA oldschool, both owing to the timing of their release and the character of their sound, which is rather far downstream from the late 80s/early gloryhole era currents. i'm split on 'overlooked' only because elvenefris has always been pretty hyped, though i would concede it's probably been relegated to cult status in later years.

incidentally i never really thought much of it until i was prompted to revisit it a couple weeks ago and it finally clicked. the 2011 remix+remaster is kind of a shame though, because it really buries the cheesy 80s electric piano at the beginning of one step closer :redneck:
