Are broken hope really overlooked?

I’d so say. Yeah they have their niche group of fans but overall when discussing death metal, they don’t come up all that often that Ive noticed. At least in comparison to ny/fl/tx death metal

i wouldn't call LA oldschool, both owing to the timing of their release and the character of their sound, which is rather far downstream from the late 80s/early gloryhole era currents. i'm split on 'overlooked' only because elvenefris has always been pretty hyped, though i would concede it's probably been relegated to cult status in later years.

incidentally i never really thought much of it until i was prompted to revisit it a couple weeks ago and it finally clicked. the 2011 remix+remaster is kind of a shame though, because it really buries the cheesy 80s electric piano at the beginning of one step closer

they weren't active for a while and were never huge in the 90's... so yeah, I'd say so.
