Seperating the yolks from the whites in eggs (the health fad)

For some reason, this has become somewhat of a fad amongst the so-called health-conscious crowd within my community. There's people who would make scrambled eggs using four eggs but will only eat one yolk then discard the other three. There's also folk who will just straight out throw away the yolks altogether.

Do you do this? Is there any other reason people do this aside from the supposed increased cholesterol from the yolks?

yolks contain an enormous amount of cholesterol but i don't know if it's the bad kind

Egg yolks contain most if the nuttients of the egg, its wasteful to not eat them. Sometimes when baking you have to separate the white from the yolk but I always save whats not used and eat it later.

Stormy I wouldnt fear them they raise hdl. They generally dont affect ldl for most of us.

Fat in general has a long standing bad rep thanks to the sugar industry’s lobbying in the west (mainly america) this fad if being against egg yolks was part of that. Sad to hear its taking hold elsewhere.

breakfast this morning is a two-egg sandwich with smoked ham and extra sharp aged cheddar on homemade rustic bread (toasted in butter obviously). tossed some cocoa ghost pepper hot sauce up in there for the finishing touch

I’ve done this while cooking certain dishes but I still end up using both the whites and the yolk.

yeah i like all of the egg

don't eat egg every day

but definitely on the regular

feel weird if i eat more than three eggs in one day

i had an egg white sandwich for lunch (needed the yolks for a custard and they had nowhere else to go)

its not the optimal egg configuration obviously. but with seasoning and things to go on it, egg whites are perfectly fine on their own
