watched event horizon for the first time tonight. fantastic. but those end credits are absolutely killing me. a prodigy song is perfect for the end credits to a 1997 movie, but i feel like probably a different one

Event horizon is such a crazy movie. I watched it maybe a year ago after not seeing it for 20+ years. It holds up well but the end is all kinds of wtf

Godzilla Minus One was great. The human storyline wasn't at all bad, and Godzilla himself was back to being a destructive, godlike force of nature.

I still think I prefer Shin Godzilla a bit more but I'll definitely have to watch Minus One again before that decision is solidified.

separate nights! but, there is indeed a theme, and that is 'the films of ken russell' which are mostly fantastic. whore was probably my least favorite of his that i've seen so far, not a bad film but was visually a bit of a dud, which is unusual in my experience thus far. as i have started to more seriously explore the medium i am finding i have a big attraction to cinematography, the wenders/muller, denis/godard combos in particular are really really doing it for me

there's a dvd of eastern promises somewhere in my apartment and it's not mine, i only very recently discovered its a cronenberg film. so i'll probably watch it at some point. but not the errant DVD because that's honest to god more work than finding a download

Yeah you almost wouldn't know Cronenberg directed it if you didn't look it up. It's pretty stylistically different from his other works, although the violence is very much him.

i watched eleven in all during the month of january and that felt like a good pace. especially given that two of them account for about 10 hours of viewing. i am very deliberately avoiding overloading myself on the medium, i like a day or two to reflect and think about stuff before moving on to the next
