Figuring out a song stuck in your head after not knowing what it is

So for the past 6 months I’ve had the first 3 minutes of this song stuck in my head. Had no idea what it was or where I heard it. Even asked the wife and she had no clue either despite its relative simplistic melody. I assumed I must have heard it in a movie or something but honestly was at a loss. Tools like Shazam that claim you can hum, whistle, or sing a song into it were of no help. One day at work I was talking with a coworker who plays violin in a quartet. I hummed the song out to them and they knew it in about 10 seconds! Jeez.



Still no idea where I had heard it as I was not familiar with this work or the composer, but there you go. Has this ever happened to you?

How good did it feel to finally figure it out?

This happened to me once where it went on for awhile. It would come and go in my head for around 6-8 months and could never figure it the fuck out. All I knew is that it was some sludgey/stoner thing and I was pretty sure it was a bridge towards the end of a song.

As it turns out I was batting .500 on this one. It was absolutely a sludge filled band. But it was the opening and main riff of the song

This happened to me a few weeks ago and I almost made about it!

I semi remembered the catchy chorus and google drove me in the right direction
