Power Trip Returned To The Stage For A Surprise Set Last Night

The surviving members of Texan crossover thrashers Power Trip, guitarist/vocalist Blake Ibanez, guitarist/vocalist Nick Stewart, bassist Chris Whetzel and drummer/vocalist Chris Ulsh, made a surprise live reunion onstage last night, December 01st. Skourge‘s Seth Gilmore took on the vocal duties for the unannounced live set, which followed a show by Fugitive at the Mohawk in Austin, TX.

Both Ibanez and Gilmore have been playing together in Fugitive as of late. With the aforementioned trio of musicians assembling onstage alongside Ibanez and Gilmore, the collective ripped through several Power Trip songs, including: “Soul Sacrifice“, “Executioner’s Tax (Swing Of The Axe)“, “Hornet’s Nest“, “Manifest Decimation” and “Crucifxation“.

This set marked the band’s first time performing their material live together since the untimely passing of Power Trip vocalist Riley Gale back in August of 2020 due to an accidental overdose. This special performance was not revealed in advance for the show, with only a ‘special guest’ having been teased for the night. Fan-filmed footage of that set can be seen below:

i haven't read any of this and i don't know any details but what's the big deal. did riley own power trip or something? i think it's perfectly fine if the band wants to move forward
