About Myfarog: no, have not played it. It's pretty much based on Dungeons & Dragons but in a different universe. I did watch his own videos on it and about the rules, which were pretty interesting but such role playing games are not for me.
A French court has convicted Kristian "Varg" Vikernes of inciting racial hatred. The notorious Norwegian metal musician was handed an €8,000 (£6,400) fine and a six-month suspended sentence for publishing racist screeds that attack Muslims and Jews, reported Norwegian paper the Local.
Although Vikernes had attended earlier court proceedings, he and his lawyer were not present at Tuesday's proceedings in Paris. The 41-year-old had previously denied writing the racist blog entries, claiming that they were written by one of his many online impersonators. "At any given moment [there are] 350 people pretending to be Varg Vikernes on Facebook," he said. The posts in question had been written between March and June 2013.
the fact that varg is an unrepentant racist has been maybe the most central pillar of his public identity for as long as such a thing has existed. it was all spelled out very explicitly in lords of chaos. even his RPG is very consciously suffused with that perspective!
Lords of Chaos is a cool book and used it during my university thesis as one of my sources. But it also has a lof of one sided stories and not everything in it is correct.
i agree, in a lot of ways it is not a very good book. and a large part of that is IMO down to its over-emphasis on varg. but i don't think its characterization of his racial and political views in it has ever been a serious point of contention!
i mean, his biggest gripe about his portrayal in the movie was that the actor was jewish. i am sure there are plenty of valid criticisms that could be made, but that very clearly isn't one!
