I have mowed the grass exactly twice this year. No irrigation + not much rain = very little growth. Wild flowers filled in some of the voids where grass died. Fine by me.

Honestly this grass cutting is too much work if you have a big backyard, side entrances and front lawn. You've got to edge it, keep cutting it, blow the grass out of the way, and kill weeds. The worst is doing it when the weather is hot. I'm thinking maybe this is best left to the professionals.

My other house was on 1/3 of an acre and it took 2-3 hours to do everything. Now I live on a much smaller property and it takes like 30 minutes. If I ever live on a large property again I’m gonna make sure it’s mostly trees and underbrush. Fuck grass.

Well firstly, I guess you never made the mistake of not cutting it. Because last fall I didn't cut the grass since I had no experience with home ownership. The result was that weeds grew out of control and it took me weeks to pull them out. Apparently, if you keep cutting the grass, it encourages horizontal grass growth, which keeps the weeds out. So you're doing it right by cutting often.

I hardly ever cut it. I really don't give a fuck about the yard. So if there's weeds so be it!

Dude. Those places become no-go zones, with all sorts of creepy insects that can bite you in the leg if you leave that unchecked. The area becomes unusable.

I finally got a notice from the county that I need to cut it
