Finally deactivated Facebook
Deleted the apps from my phone too. I hope this was a wise decision.

Re: Finally deactivated Facebook
Since 2011, I maintained a "fake profile" through which I built up connections with the international activist left and got into political debates. I used to do that intensely up until 2016. After that for a variety of reasons I lost interest. I've also developed a low opinion of Meta's product for being a bloated, old, contentless platform that is at the fore-front of disinformation.

Re: Finally deactivated Facebook
facebook is truly a total piece of shit, but i can't leave without putting in a lot of effort, not to mention i have to use it for work, so i just use it the least amount as i can
you would not believe the facebook bullshit i have had to deal with (from meta, from armed orgs, from broken people, from so many quarters) since the myanmar coup, it has been rather awful

Re: Finally deactivated Facebook
Facebook is enjoyable if only just to observe as to how people really have that deep-seated need to post everything that goes on in their lives on the internet for the world to see. In many ways, it's like watching National Geographic or Animal Planet.

No social media for me. Like shadowalk says, it's indeed one big ego trip for everyone on there. Fuck that shit.

Re: Finally deactivated Facebook
This. I remember mindlessly scrolling facebook a couple of years ago and thinking "Wait, why am I on here? Nothing about it is interesting anymore." Then I proceeded to delete the app and haven't looked back since.
