Re: Emperor
Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk is similar to In the Nightside Eclipse. it's actually my favorite album because it was the first one I heard.
IX Equilibrium is brilliant but different, the production is much cleaner than the previous two.
Prometheus has insane production and really takes a couple of listens for it to click. it doesn't sound like Anthems or Nightside, but is also brilliantly awesome in it's own right.

prometheus is fucking great but listen to it and dont expect some fast, evil sounding black metal album, its not really black metal at all besides the vocal style

Re: Emperor
Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk and IX Equilibrium are my other two favorites.
I do enjoy Wrath of the Tyrant and Emperor and Prometheus, but not as much.
I had hoped for a new album with the reunion, but alas no.

sorry, but no. there's maybe a handful of riffs that sound kinda similar, but the rest sounds totally different (especially the keys)

no. prometheus sounds like a dimmu borgir album. everything but this album is acceptable.[/quote]
Wow, that is probably the worst ever heard comment about that album! If you think that is Dimmu Borgir material then, just wow. Go stand in the corner...

so.. I am a "dimwit" because when you said that 2 albums are similar (without pointing out the specifics that you were thinking) my conclusion was that you were referring to riffing and composition, not production and "style"? riiiiiiiight... :loco:

That's maybe even more true for Death Metal.
Burzum, Gorgoroth, Mayhem, Immortal, Emperor, etc all hardly sound the same.
