in a few days it will have been 1 year since I interviewed for a job that uprooted my life. it's been stressful and there has been a lot of positive stuff happen despite it all. despite the absolute shitshow in europe I am hopeful for the future. on another note - I'm actually not looking forward to spring just yet so it's been sad to see snow melting and rain in the forecast lately.

Re: march check in
I'm making a lot more money, working better hours and partaking in the culture up here a bit more than I did in Florida, so yeah.
the only thing I really miss is my old house to be honest - it was an old 60's house that had been completely updated and we had a large yard and lived on a small lake.
the place we're in now is an old 30's tudor house and is on a much smaller lot (though the house is actually larger) and closer to the city. perhaps in a few years that will change.
i'm enjoying the change of weather and have fully embraced winter
although eventually I will be ready for spring. seasons don't really exist in Florida so it's been a nice change. I will say that I don't miss the incredible stupidity that was other people in Florida.

Re: march check in
I had a job interview this week for an ECOM SME position within the same company for the same account (Harman) and today I got the good news that they want to give me the position. Seems I had the best scores for the test and interview by far so I am super stoked.
After 3.5 years of being a Tech SME I got fed up with the tech issuea we have every day, and this position will be 95% offline, communication with the backend of the company and distro throughout EMEA.
Other than this great thing, I am also quite worried about the war here in Europe and where it's going but would prefer to keep that discussion in the other thread.

up and down, same as always
i got a 7% raise and a free ps5, and there are a lot of things i am looking forward to this year. but some days i can feel very acutely that my mental health is seriously deteriorating. this has been a very strange and often unpleasant year so far. but maybe that will pass. historically it always has at least

I still work a fucking ton. Things are in the works to add another body to help. This would free me up to do actual manager stuffs to keep the department running. But I've got an eye on possibly bigger doings

I had COVID, didn't die. I also had doctor appointments for transition, I'll have some more later this month.

Re: march check in
I'm having psychological tests (MMPI2 and some others). After I get psychological opinion I'll need some blood tests, breast and uterus medical ultrasound. If everything is ok I'll get testosterone. That's the easy part. I want top surgery, which is quite expensive, so I'll need to save money. I'm bad at saving money. The worst part is I have to sue my parents for wrongly assigning my gender in birth certificate. It can take few weeks to few years depending od judge. As far as I know Poland is the only place where one have to do it in order to get new ID with proper gender mark and have name changed.
