back in my day we just stacked them as high as they would go, we didn't try to climb on them
my record was 18 i think, i had to climb on top of a milk truck to get that high

At my old work they would fire you on the spot if you used a milk crate as a step stool rather than, you know, a step stool. A single milk crate cannot support a person’s weight - building a staircase out of them just seems udderly retarded.
