For me, it's the greatest metal album ever. In terms of mood, songwriting, production, it's flawless.
It's the main reason why I picked up the guitar. I wanted to know how they create these sounds, melodies.
I learned all the songs (probably not perfectly), and most of the time, that's what I play on the guitar

I bought the CD on the release date and the vinyl some years after. I definitely love the record a lot

If I had to define it, it would surely be like a tank destroying jerks left and right. The most important album of my life, one of the most revolutionary within the genre. Happy 20 Years "Gateways To Annihilation".

Yeah it's definitely where Gojira and Behemoth got a lot of inspiration from when this came out.

gateways was one of the first death metal albums i owned, it’s still my favorite MA by far

I can't imagine that there isn't a simple person in their crew who didn't noticed it.
It's so lame that they can't make a simple post about this. Makeing a "Anniversary Editon" T-shirt or whatever is kinda effortless thing for such a BIG band like Morbid Angel... isn't it? :(

At least their masterpieces are here for us forever

This came out in my irc days. I was spending a lot of time on #mp3_deathmetal (I thiiink... there were a lot of variations like #mp3-deathmetal #mp3deathmetal etc., and I forgot which one I was in) and one of the ops had a weekly death metal radio show. He got an advance copy. Of course, he ripped it immediately. We were all floored. Such an amazing album. I later on bought it on release day.

So many good times... so much to discover still. I remember it like a sense of wonder, going through these massive file serve lists for interesting things I'd never heard of to queue up and download, or just letting Shoutcast run and having something random and awesome cross my path
