Who do you consider the Lars of Death Metal?

Post by zim »

I would consider Paul Mazurkiewicz the "Lars" drummer of death metal. This hard-on bearer gets tired when he is doing basic DM beats and uses two foot blasting for slow blasts! :frown:

Not saying I don't like him, he could just be a little more interesting.

CC needs a new drummer*

period.

I hate to say this but their music could be 10 times as interesting with more diverse drumming.

Lars is such a ridiculous drummer. He gets so tired from simplistic beats. Not to mention he would have a heart attack if he attempted a real 100% version of Dyers Eve.

Seriously, why do you frown upon Megadeth? Their songs are a hundred times more complex, original and intelligent than those of most thrash metal bands. I understand that Chuck is a better singer than Dave, but no other voice would fit Megadeth better. The driving forces behind both bands, Dave and Eric, are both awesome guitarists and composers but the main difference between those two is that Dave always did whatever he wanted to do, while Testament has always seem to follow the trend; if I didn't like them as much as I do, I'd say their next album will be a fucking metalcore album. I like both bands waaaaaay more than any others but Megadeth always comes first for me, they just can't be touched in terms of originality and attitude.

Did I say I think Lars sucks? No, because he's a solid drummer who has a distinctive ability to play in the pocket. Napalm Death, likewise, are not flailing around with lots of extra noodly talent, but what they attempt, they do better than most.

steve ashein is indeed an awesome drummer, in fact from what i've heard, he's one of my favorites of any genre, and certainly my favorite in death metal.

The thread is intended to compare drummers of death metal to Lars.

Basically bad drummers or people who get tired really easily.
