This only happens when I use a Precount, It records wherever I want it to when precount is turned off. But it's a hassle to record without it.

Cubase Recording Problem
I'm trying to record on the second beat of the 14th bar but when I hit record it automatically starts at the 14th bar.

just about to PM you about C5 stuffs : )
haven't used it yet, so can't help really...
but it's probably easier just to let it record from the start and play on the 2nd beat, then edit it after

Re: Cubase Recording Problem
I figured out another way to do it. Instead of using a Precount I'm using a PreRoll which plays back a specific amount of audio and then starts recording.

Re: Cubase Recording Problem
I actually like using the preroll a lot, but precount is still really nice

I was confused about how to set how far back it plays before it records. The best way I found to do it is set one of your time displays to Bars+Beats. so the time format is 0.0.0.0
and in the preroll amount I set the number of beats I want it to play by changing only the second number. 0.0.0.0
hope it helps if you didn't already know

Re: Cubase Recording Problem
check "Input Only Monitoring" and ctrl+K or command+K in ProTools to set the red marker for record, then just slide the white flagmarker to the position you want to let it start playing.
so much easier
so much easier

Re: Cubase Recording Problem
Zim, I'm not sure I understand whats your problem. Are you using punch in or what? Just hold ctrl and click where you want to start recording (that's left marker), then hit punch in button, and you are set. Then you can play along with the song but Cubase will start to record only when you reach the marker.
