indeed it is. i was originally looking at the audiotechnica 120, but it's direct drive and the consensus seems to be that's mainly only beneficial for DJ use. for playback, belt drive is apparently the way to go and this is meant to be on par with fancy tables twice its price. plus it's made locally!

which i have gathered is at least in part because stephen always wants to metal stuff up and chino is like "not so much, no"

but there is always so much going on within that restraint that their albums are really interesting and worthy of much revisitation

i think after one listen that that ein second track is my favorite. acid hologram

there is much thickness to be had here as well. the production is warm and dense

I think that's why I prefer their first album. If they would let go a bit more like they did there, the later stuff would be more something I want to jam.

The production is great on gore. Not as mainstream as the previous two. I don't get the restrained thing. Have you not heard the first two albums, elite, Korea, when girls telephone boys, bloody cape, rapture, hexagram, ratsratsrats, the ending of beware, rocket skates, ending of Royal, poltergeist or goon squad? The first four albums have a good amount of heavy shit.

There is much to dissect and digest for sure. One of the reason I love them, so many layers makes the discovery that much more satisfying.

chino and steph both said in seperate interviews that acid hologram is their favorite track. chino said it was written by sergio

This might be the first time I saw something on the release list and actually found it in the shop! It is the best GWAR album.
