Though yes he is a great kintarist as everyone claims him to be, his solo stuff is eh.

I'm a big fan of Vai, but some of his solo stuff is yuck.

first Vai track i heard when i was about 7 or 8 was "The Audience Is Listening" and I couldn't believe a guitar could make those sounds. Shortly after that a mate's brother showed me EVH's "Eruption" and my love of (most) guitar shredding was born.
