Lyrics & Music

Post by zim »

I think most people usually create music first and figure out the lyrical patterns after the song is finished.

But have any of you created music to go along with lyrics instead? I have some lyrics laying around but while I was writing them I had a specific rhythm I wanted them to be sang in.

Have any of you done this? :interessant:

i've never done this, but as an raging opeth fan, i'll say that mike wrote the lyrics for my arms your hearse before the music, which he said had a special effect on the how the songs turned out.

I've tried but it never flows as well as when I create the music first.

That's the only way I write really. I come up with a theme, write out the story in lyrics and then soundtrack each section.

it happened a few times. I prefer writing lyrics to music - my imagination works better... sometimes

generally write music then fit lyrics based on the pattern of the song or the overall vibe. but sometimes if I have a certain lyric in mind or written down, I'll try to write music that fits that vibe.
