Hey there Noyka

Post by Abzu »

You used to study mythology?

I have a lifelong, ongoing independent study of myth and folklore going on.

Religious mythology used to be a huge hobby of mine, when I started college I was an eastern religious studies major but that obviously didn't work out too well :redneck:

My parents are Christian and to understand the world it's important to understand belief systems, religion and its mythology is a huge part of that.

Yes they're (religions) all basically the same but the subtle differences affect EVERY culture and it's a huge part of our lives.

ya, definitely. i believe that religion, mysticism, and spirituality are not ridiculous but real, and even have the potential to be measured scientifically. a mystically united planet could be wonderful. who are we, what are we, what is this, it simply is, but is it not an indescribable beauty and miracle also? you don't have to respond to that, its just my preach-ranting.

also, you say that there's no difference between republicans and democrats. but, its like religion; there is a big difference, and there's a lot of conflict there. i visited arkansas recently and was blown away when i discovered that there, catholicism is taboo, and baptist is in. here in nebraska, baptistism isn't taboo, but its not in, catholicism is. it was shocking to me to drive ten hours and see this kind of separation.

Not republican and democrat conservative and liberal. There are huge differences between conservative and liberal beliefs. There are also differences in libertarians and conservatives.

well, when it comes to the overall attitude of our nation, libertarianism is probably a fart in the breeze. and by dems vs. repubs, i mean red vs. blue. huge conflict. lots of ugly feelings, the conflict is in my family, between me and my dad. lots of ugly differences that sometimes are as far from our reality as television and books.

that's great. a revolution could be healthy. i've read about libertarianism and i identify with its core beliefs, which are similar to conservatism, buhdism, and satanism. i don't know much about their political movement though.

although i must say, i am for the current health care reform. its a tenancy towards greater compassion. i think that spending lots of tax payer's money on health care could in effect, reduce the money we spend on war, and end war.

there is no such thing as a sensible war, unless its literally a fight for survival. and by that i mean against an alien attack. i hope that humans are evolving towards a better understanding about each other, and that there is a way to solve our differences with peaceful and respectful critical thinking. i think the death of modern/primitive religion is a key element towards growth.

do you know how much of your tax money pays for the death of hundreds of thousands of people in the current war? conservatives want to take it even further. i know obama is continuing it, but i also have the feeling that he's only doing so to maintain peace within our government...amongst democrats and republicans...atheists and christians... please can we have just twenty billion of that back to help heal the poor instead of fly across the seas and murder them?

Why are you for universal healthcare? Why are you for increase bureaucrocy and decreased effeciency? Why are you for fining people who don't want to have healthcare? Why are you for limiting competition and increasing government control over our lives? Why should we trust these guys when they've screwed up medicad, medicare, and social security.

about fining people for not having health care, i think its great. it will force responsibility. and in the long run, will probably decrease health care costs, and brain wash people into spending money on health care instead of war and cigarettes. and why shouldn't we trust them? do you really think they're doing this just to promote their agenda, and nothing else? is this karmablade?

also, how do you think this issue will decrease efficiency?

also, competition is a relative term. there's always competition, whether its insurance company vs. insurance company, or insurance companies vs. failure under strict government rules.

Umm a government option will squash private insurance it's happened in every other country. That eliminates competition. Also fining people for not having health insurance is against the US constitution and a direct assault on our liberty. Why shouldn't we trust them? Are you seriously asking me that? ARe you seriously asking why we shouldn't trust them with our lives when we have failed government programs like the post office, social security, medicare, medicad, hell even most DMVs are poorly run. Wake up read the bill all you need to do is read it to see how poorly written it is and why it's not a good idea. I read te old version and from what I understand the one the house passed is pretty much the same.

I don't know exactly what sort of healthcare you have in Finland Pente, is it government operated or governmetn regulated? A lot of countries have excellent healtcare and all their people covered with government regulated not own.ed healthcare like Switzerland and Scandanavia.

Main reason government squashes private health insurance in complete take overs (like that listed out in the house bill) Government doesn't have to make a profit. This means they have no incentive to do what's best for the people, they have no incentive to cut costs or insure quality coverage.

To pay for it they'll heavily tax private insurance this will force people into the government option because they can't afford the private. This has happened in every country just about. This has happened in Canada, the UK, and other places and will happen in the US if the current bill passes.
