Actually, my vote goes to Ron Thal / Bumblefoot. Most guitarists I can listen to and have an idea of what they're doing. This hard-on bearer however completely boggles my mind with almost every song. There are live videos of this but the sound quality isn't that great. I've got him playing this on dvd though and it's flawless, because he's a bastard.

There's such interperformance/interperformer variability!

I have a particular version of it that I think is great. Not sure who it's by. Same with Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. Both I have from when I downloaded the sheet music for them a number of years ago, so I don't know who the performer is.

It's a shame there are no recordings of how these people had wanted their music to be played.

Man, Yngwie's picking technique is so amazing. It's so clean and his right hand is incredibly relaxed. I've been working on picking like him a lot. I've lost a lot of my picking speed on higher notes because of so much legato playing
