most important field of human progression
laying in bed last night i stumbled upon a seriousness in my psyche and this is what it was about. what is the most important field of human progression? i'll get started.
1. environmental sciences - particularly the practice of efficiency efficiency efficiency. to me, oil, energy, and garbage are soooo fucking important. one of the coolest things about the human race is exploration and advancement of technology, be it whatever field. but its costly, and we have this one planet to work with. to me, its imperative that we find ways to be more eco-conscious and careful. and unfortunately, i'd say it must start with professional science, not the simple act of using canvas bags instead of plastic, and recycling, which according to the republicans, is gay.
2. spiritual - this is not something we can actually pursue, other than for those who are open and free from religion to share their beliefs. hopefully we can evolve out of religious difference, and hopefully even agree upon a kind of mystical unitarianism. "hail multiculturalism, because it implies growth above and beyond our differences."
3. more health care less war - i don't yet know much of the technicalities, but i do know that much of my tax money i pay funds the infa-red snipering of over 100,000 iraq people in this recent war. some of them were probably innocent. its important for people to defend themselves from the psychotic fucks who threaten them. many of those whom i would bet a hundred bucks daydream about nuking our country in the name of allah. but, once again, i think its something that will take time, and all we can do is spread the word. "we can bomb the world to pieces...but we can't bomb it into peace."
4. technology, knowledge, exploration, and growth - continue growing. its what we do. maybe, much of it is extra-curicular, and maybe the funds should be diverted into more important causes like health care and our education, which is why its kind of lower on my priority list, although much this field is obviously directed towards the said.... and the hard sciences and maths are where it happens. nanotechnology, space travel, theoretical physics, stem cell research...lets evolve, explore, and be awesome...but reverting back to my number one, lets most importantly focus on doing it carefully and efficiently.
5. arts. i guess i put this last and as kind of a wild card. art is so damn important for many people, me included. but its icing on the cake. its not really a priority. its fun, like sports. although its well known that music can bring people together and and even form genres of sub-culture. hail mabb!!!!
what are you're thoughts. pardon my elementary prose and grammar.
*edit* also, where does politics fall in this question? obviously super important. i like the idea of the selflesness of communism, with its diversion of focus from competition for money to a more communal form of competition which benifits everyone. its a mindset. how many brilliant businessmen do you know who are unfortunately invested in defeating their fellow man for sport and their own benefit?

multiculturalism just happens. there's no point in blaming it. mass communication and transportation and economy and our curiosity about each other and to grow and understand leads to multiculturalism. i'm sure there are a few more people like ironman in middle-eastern countries who are basically devils and infadels because of their beliefs in contrast to their culture's example. the fact that you listen to black metal and believe in communism is an antagonist of the dissonance of multiculturalism.

I don't believe in communism. I was a communist (or atleast I thought I was) when I was a christian due to its skeleton christian beliefs in equality.
I do not like multiculturalism because it leads to the decay of culture. If this goes on, we'll be one race with one mindset, robots.

one race with one mindset? there will always be individuals, but a one race, one culture might actually be awesome. it would involve evolving past our differences. robot mode? i know what you mean, but i don't think it will ever truly happen like in the sci-fi movies. to me, overcoming our religious differences is a HUGE IMPORTANT step that we're growing towards. in fact, its ridiculously important...and such a growth will be extreme multiculturalism.

I view this as negative. It will lead to disillusionment in humans, and we will become generic. Culture is what makes us humans, it is who we are. France for French, England for Anglos, Africa for Africans, etc.

yah, but after disillusionment comes "re-illusionment". people are obviously raised and influenced by their geological culture, but we are obviously mixing, so we must find a way to adapt and understand. is your family christian? with your reasoning, shouldn't you be christian to preserve culture and prevent multiculturalism? no, multiculturalism just happens. instead of blaming it, we need to understand and grow with it.

But then I could argue that christianity is not the culture of our (European) people. I guess it would be Odinism or whatever.
I think we should attempt to prevent it.

prevent what? christianity? i agree, i think its good and healthy to end it. but by doing so, you're supporting multiculturalism.

No. Christianity was the first multicultural religion we know of.

you need to elaborate on your first statement. i didn't read the article. and "end humanity" what do you mean? are you suicidal? we're a bunch of evolved apes on the brink of the most shocking time in history, the industrial revolution, and we're trying to work things out.

Re: most important field of human progression
I think the most important field of human progression needs to be made more available to the public. I mean, lets think about this logically for a second, do we really want to live in a society where the answers to our most important questions are made inaccessible to us? I think this stems from the greater problem of racism which has become much more prevelant in recent years. I don't think people realise how much words can hurt. Whenever I hear a white person make a racist comment about a black person, I cringe on the inside. My soul cries out. I sometimes wish it were possible to make these white people black for a day. They'd then see how cruel their racism is. They'd soon change their tune once if they knew what key they're playing in. Being black is no joke.
This may seem like a counterrepresentation to the core issue of society as a whole, and where we should aim our ultimate progress, but I would at least hope my transgressions into the metaphysical are, at least to some of you, left in no readily inhabitable state.
