holy fucking shit... it's the most useless, ugly piece of shit I've ever seen. I mean, it looked terrible the last time I checked it out, but my god, what is that horrendous scrolling shit? Why would anybody use this fucking cesspool of absolute wank?

90% of all profiles I looked at hadn't been logged into for years and had all kinds of fucked up broken shit going on, due to those copy 'n paste codes people had.

It was actually sold a few years ago. It's now a place for music.

From a web developer perspective, side-scrolling sites are super cool but not in the way MySpace is using it. :oldryan:

Facebook has held onto a solid user base longer than any of the others. Sure, something else will eventually come along but it likely won't be another social network as we know the concept now.

I find it strange when people say they can't wait for it to die or end etc. Why? If you don't like it, then no one is forcing you to use it. If you don't use it, then why do you even care? What exactly is the purpose of hating a particular platform/communication-facilitator/network/whatever? Or, more generally, what is the point in wishing for the end of something you don't use but other people enjoy? It seems kind of pointless and lame to me.

I'm not being defensive, I'm simply posing a question on something that makes no sense to me. What would I possibly have to be defensive about? I'm not Mark Zuckerberg. :santa:

So what you're saying is you project your frustration over people who think they should push onto you use of a social network onto the network itself? It's no different than any other framework of internet community in that people will interact sans unspoken cues we exchange in person. This results in a mix of interesting content, less substantive but still worthy silly things, and negative interactions. The network itself cannot possibly be blamed for the negatives. Those are created, driven, and perpetuated by the users participating in said activities. It's also wonderful for keeping in touch with people (Example: most of my extended family is spread across New Jersey and I rarely get the chance to see them.) and sharing/clashing/colliding/evolving ideas, as well as keeping up with artists I enjoy. Like Skinner said, if someone posts shit I do not like, I either block their feed or unfriend them. It's very simple.

Look, I can understand being frustrated about people trying to push its use on you. Someone trying to push use of anything like that on anyone is shite. But blaming the network itself for that is just nonsensical.

i forgot my password and hadn't realized it until it dawned on me a few years ago that i should probably just delete the stupid thing. at that point, i no longer had access to the email account that was used to sign up in the first place, so i couldn't reset it either. i had to accept that it will just sit there until they decide to delete it, or human civilization collapses.
