Okay well I'm a nutrition major there's a lot of organic chemistry and physiology involved in understanding the chemistry of food. Every field has it's own language including a field you mentioned earlier psychology. You know going into psychology you'll probably have to take anatomy or human biology right? That means you'll have to know all this terminology and then some.

noyka, since your a nutrition major, what have you say about raw food and juicing diets and juice or water fasting? i've practiced them for spiritual purposes and have experienced positive results. plus, there are many testimonials on the net which say the same, even if its all due to psycho-somatic contrived results. a result is a result none the less though, right? how about what you have to say?

Terminology doesn't bother me. I'm in it for the science and not the social aspect so I enjoy learning the concepts, terminology is just a part of that.

Raw food I have not researched the diet I've not heard anything bad about it but I'm not going to endorse it.

Juice only: I'd think you'd get a lack of protein short term it might not do any damage but I'm not sure.

Fasting: short term you're going to still go into an alternate energy system (I'm blanking on the name right now sorry) which is stealing energy from other parts of your body and slowing your metabolism down just to keep your brain functioning. I'd assume the same would happen with a juice only diet. Remember your brain runs on glycogen which is a form of what essentiall will be energy created from carbs that you ingest (including sugars, which carbs are turned into over time) when you run out of carbs your body is going to start stealing energy from itself to keep the brain going.

I have not really started with the details of my major yet, I'm focusing on physiology and understanding energy systems and the basic chemistry right now (I have zero foundation). Can't do anything without a good base

yah i've tried the fasting thing, and once again even if psychosamatic, i did feel physical and mental results. i've read before that aristotle or plato or one of those greek dudes practiced it to sharpen mental clarity. and even if simply so, the concept is that the body looks for energy elsewhere than the digestive system (which uses a large bit of energy), so it looks elsewhere to benign tumors of toxins accumulated for entire lifetimes. i've read testimonials with photo evidence where people's tongues became coated with whiteness then cleared to the most clearest of fleshy coatings ever. and of course the mental clarity. the body supposedly attacks all that bad stuff as a defense mechanism against starvation. also, the case of the hard-on bearer stranded in an ocean cave for 40 days. he literally craved fish eyeballs for no other reason than that his body told him so because it needed it.

Complete protein?

There are 21 amino acids but we only need to consume 8 of them, the others we make on our own and are non essential.

Vegetarians can get complete proteins from eating things like bean and whole wheat bread. On their own each contain certain amino acids put them together and you have all of the essential amino acids creating a complete protein.

Chickens are kept in cages they can walk around in, it's a law now at least here in California. Dairy cows have room to move and what not. I really value human life over animal life. What is inhumane? Stomping chickens obviously but you know what that's the indiviudal worker's fault not the company or the farm's policy often times.

A lot of this is a ploy to control us environmentalists are huge lobiest there is a lot behind "animal rights" that I cannot support and I will never supprt. I have a big soft spot for animals and would never support anything to harm them. But I also value human life, we need a balance neither issue should take priority and many believe that animals come before humans.

i'm a hypocrite when it comes to how much i care and take action about animal rights. i easily and carelessly eat mass produced animals. i have a soft spot to but i don't actually act upon it. yah, i guess when you look at the food chain, we are above animals, and i know a lot of people believe so, but can you at least acknowledge that given what you have heard, a lot of animals really are given shitty lives for mass production? is this so hard to believe? once again, i'm not actually taking a stance. i'm a hypocrite and pretty lame when it comes to politics, and i don't even know a great amount about the details of the subject, but it wouldn't suprise me a bit if the accusations about shitty chicken environments were true. the peta nd all their hollier-than-art-though campaigns have acted upon the said, but i'm 100 percent sure that at least their intetions are true. given room to walk around...i'm sure this is true...but couped up in a cage only the size of their body and fed hormones, i don't know, but i intuit this is true also.
