Oh hell. That looks cool.

I know that if I started playing something like that again, nobody would see me for days. I try to stay away from the Diablos and WoWs.

have you played Arcanum?
yes. Arcanum is (design-wise, cause-story wise PS:T and MotB are unbeatable) easily the best RPG-ever.

and, i am deeply ashamed to admit that, but i have yet to play FO1 and FO2 to the end (i just can't get past the shitty turn-based combat. i've always found this particular game-mechanic to completely destroy immersion in rpgs :oldryan: ) but, from what i gathered from other players and friends experiences, FO2 is bigger and has more funny/fun stuff, but is nowhere near FO1 (not my opinion :redneck: ). will confirm or deny that whenever i unsard (probably sometime in november after the first batch of exams :redneck: )

regarding nwn2: if you liked nwn1 (and i can't really fathom why you would. it's as cliched as they get), the original campaign is more of the same. maybe even worse. they fucked the camera quite a bit but it's relatively customizable so maybe it doesn't annoy you so much. anyway, get the first expansion Mask of the Betrayer. it's quite similar to Planescape, and everybody that liked that game should play MotB also. i see no reason (bar the shitty NWN2 engine) not to enjoy it (if you skip the original campaign)

also, check out Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, if you haven't already (same developers as Arcanum), but be sure to install the latest Wesp patch

ok i will torrent NWN2: MoTB sometime.

ive played one Arcanum character for 30 hours and i barely got anywhere in the story. i fucking love that game. so much to do. and character creation is awesome.

and i agree with you on the turn-based combat system, it is definitely dated, but hey i still play the original Super Mario Bros., and it is definitely worth it to stick with it despite that.

fallout 1 actually may be better than 2. its hard to say, there are parts of both games that are better than the other. the beginning of 1 is by far superior, but there is more stuff to do and places to go in 2, and the NPCs are more varied in 2. but there are certain towns in 1 that are so awesome. like i said its hard to say. i prefer 2 just because i played that one first and i get nostalgic.

don't forget to torrent the original nwn2. you need it to install the expansion (unfortunately it's not stand-alone and both take up some 9gbs of space :oldryan: )
ive played one Arcanum character for 30 hours and i barely got anywhere in the story. i fucking love that game. so much to do. and character creation is awesome.
not only that, the game is so well designed that it seems whatever you do you just cannot "brake" the storyline/main-quest path. sometimes i feel there are more ways to do a single quest in arcanum then there are quests in other rpgs.

i still remember my first character. ugly, intelligent thief-tech-dwarf. i remember wanting to stay "neutral" (i usually play my characters evil :grim: ) but then i was attacked by a magician shopkeeper in Tarant and had to kill him. this turned the whole damned city against me, so i had to kill them all. needless to say, some important story-related characters were among the slain, so i had to take the "evil" route (some dark elves cult, iirc) that had me kill a whole village and thus i became known throughout the world as "The Slayer of Stillwater". later i ended up killing pretty much every npc in the game and there were still (non-cheating) ways to finish the main quest :hard-on bearer: very impressive game-design. too bad the graphic engine was so shitty

yeah, that seems to be the general sentiment that i usually come across. people usually prefer FO2 because there's more shit to do, but admit that objectively FO1 is the superior game. now i can't wait to play this to wash away the memories of FO3 :ra:

btw, have you played "The WItcher"? i heard it's good but i have yet to try it

i also feel like Arcanum is one of the only rpgs where you can make any type of character and still be successful. one of my first characters was a fairly stupid half-ogre and i actually got really far without any hangups. usually if you make a character stupid enough so you dont get very many dialogue options, you cant play the game, but not in Arcanum.

ive said it before on the bard, but Fallout 3 is really just Elder Scrolls 4: Fallout 3.

and no ive never played The Witcher. I wikied it and it does look interesting. "stroke me, for i wish to orgasm" i might have to look into that game
