End Result = Not Satisfying

Post by zim »

A few weeks ago I was working on some riffs, trying to record them ect. Worked on it for a long time. recording was difficult and I ended up not really liking it at all.

Here is said clip I'm talking about. Some parts have bad timing, blah blah. I think it might sound better with different drum arrangements, I didn't really know what to do for some parts. Just need to keep trying I guess..

I can't grab the file right now, but will later.

Oh, and Zim, the Vol 1 of remixes will be online soon - any like with doing a stereo bounce of your track?

always happy to help out dude.

i like the riffs and the production sound. it reminds me of suffocation sound.

yeah, there's some bits out of time, but hard to know what's causing it.

if you want, send me your guitar track, and if possible the cubase song file (if you use cubase).

i could have a go programming some drums and just send you back the midi (you can patch it to DFH etc...)

but regardless, i dig this.

thanks :)

I don't think it's absolutely terrible but I'm just not happy with it. I'll zip up the Cubase files if you'd like to mess with it Fukket.

This was actually recorded through the microphone jack on my pc. And the only possible way to avoid the latency was to turn off the live monitoring thing. So I was playing/recording guitar without really hearing anything except that natural sound of the guitar, not even through the speakers.

that's exactly how i have always done it. i have a good sound card, but not good enough to do zero latency.

so everything i do is clean, which can be hard sometimes.

i sent you an email (can't open file) but i can hear the wav files.

what's cool is how great the processed sound is.

what do you use?

git rig? amplitube? very real & metal sounding! :bang:

Guitar Rig, I tweaked the settings a lot and used a few different equalizers on both guitars, along with an equalizer on the main track. Recording through the mic input is ugly though, I bet it would sound even better with an interface.

This is the left guitar setup. the right one isn't much different, I used the Plex 4x12 cab and a few knob tweaks.
