One World Government

Post by Abzu »

This is not intended as flamebait (even though I know full well a certain wacko will be shitting up this thread until it is locked)

What would you all feel about a single worldwide democratic republic government under a constitution similar to the US's wherein nations act as states do now in the US and with a single, tangible currency?

Why do you feel it would be terrible? I think it would solve a lot of problems.

I agree about erosion of cultural identity. This would be a horrible potential effect of a single world government. However, aren't we already experiencing this to a horrible degree?

the only way i could see this as a good thing is if there were actually a benevolent ruler (which isnt possible) and she/he abolished centralized government and all power went to localized community based governments.

I'll go one further and say that it would have to not have a single ruler at all. It would have to be a congress with no president.

What do you think about a world constitution with basic rights, but leaving the no-no's and laws up to the individual nations?

yes we are experiencing this but i wouldnt say it is to a horrible degree. There are plenty of cultural revitalization organizations that are doing a lot of good and people will fight to keep their cultures alive. I just dont see this happening with a OWG. I dont know i just cant see a centralized government with power over the entire planet being good for anybody except those in power.

"Supposedly" being the key word. Perhaps I am uninformed, but aren't the UN pretty ineffectual?

Europe is, because of immigration. America is experiencing this too. It's because those in power believe that we should cater to those who come to us instead of them learning to be like us. We lose our culture and they gain nothing. Look at the Muslims in France and Britain, if they had been assimilated and treated like people instead of parasites or worse yet victims they wouldn't be as angry as they currently are. In Germany there have been cases of Shiriah law being practiced in court because again, the mind set is to bend to the new comers instead of holding strong and being proud of our people. A world government would do this to a much greater degree.

American people have a fighting spirit that's unlike any other nation, we can't lose that.

There are already calls for amnesty for 30 million illegal aliens, that will affect us in a big way. Also there have been calls by extremists to allow shiriah law in American courts. I don't think anybody wants that. I'm pro peacful Islam but as most sane people understand shiriah law and muslim extremism is one of the largest threats facing us today. It's as big of a threat to our society as racism which has become a tool used by those in power to enslave us.

Europe is on it's way to massive consolidation with the Lisbon Treaty going on at the minute. All member states of the EU had their decision in favour or against this ambiguous and complicated treaty made for them, except for Ireland which held a referendum to decide. We voted No, incidently ,but that didnt seem to matter as here we are just months down the line having to vote on the same thing again. I feel a yes result is inevitable this time round.

The Lisbon Treaty aims to centralise Europe incorpating (amongst a million tiny tweeks to the system) what is in effect a Europen President. He or she wont have power over any given state per say, but will still operate as a major central player in the European Parliament, which incidently was proposed originally to have less commissioners. Instead of one per country, it would have been be one for every 5 or so i'm not sure. It's complicated as fuck, but I think overall it makes for a more efficient EU with provision for further expansion.

Ireland's NO vote caused a few significant changes to be made and what we are currently voting for is an amended treaty with with the old 'commissioner per member state' policy still intact. Lets see how long that lasts.

See, this is why conspiracy theories are fail. Even if we assume that the NWO is true (it may be), it still evades the very real, very obvious horrors of what governments are already guilty of.

Now that said, I consider myself a world citizen. I hope the human race can evolve to a cosmopolitan state where people can't excuse immoral acts on the basis of "culture", nor can they allow arbitrary boundaries to set them apart. So to some extent I oppose a prevailing "one world" mindset, but "government" simply means the propping up of a hopelessly violent entity that will do anything to protect itself. That will always remain the same whether the state in question only covers 3 square miles, or the entire earth.

For that to happen in America, secularism and general(excessive) open-mindedness would have to be the norm, but the norm in America is Christian fundamentalism and ignorance/bigotry(no offense), so you can rest easy because the US is impervious to influence from any foreign religions or cultures.

Here's another question.

What do you think about a single currency, based on tangible resources?

(personally, I prefer resource trading over representational currency)

Questions like this always ignore the factor of: who decides? and what gives them the right to make this decision?

If you prefer method A, are you going to throw me in jail or shoot me for wanting to pursue method B?

There's no sense in pretending to have discussions with people who just want to shoot and cage people who disagree with them.

Dont you hate it when people don't ask you the questions you wanted to answer? :necro:

I'm ignoring nothing. I'm simply asking the one thing as a hypothetical. You act like I'm the government. If I wanted to ask who decides, I would have asked, "Hey who do you think decides?"
