Re: does anybody
I still do...mainly for burning those cracked Win XP .iso files that I download. Recently used one for burning an Ubuntu 'Jaunty' CD.

Use an mp3 FM transmitter...the kind that you just plug into your cigarette lighter and tune your FM radio to. I got one that's got slots for USB flash disks and SD cards (and of course an audio jack for ipods) and it's served me very, very well.

Re: does anybody
this is true, which is why I still buy cd's.
listening on the computer is one thing, but you get so much more when you put the actual cd in a good quality stereo.

Re: does anybody
From a technical standpoint, media files can be made to sound exact to the CD pressing. mp3 is a lossy compression format, so there will be differences. A media player through a decent car stereo with a lossless format like FLAC can sound exact to CD. Being CD is digital in nature, it has the same limitations as digital media.
(This was the core of the record vs cd battle. Records are pure analog and thus limitless in bandwidth, whereas digital mediums will always be limited by the bandwidth of the format in question.)

i still burn audio cd's now and then, for whenever i'm too lazy to plug my ipod in and charge it up or in case it runs out of juice on the road. this came in handy during my july road trip when i drove from SC > MA without stopping except for a couple bathroom/food breaks

i use them for the car instead of the real cd, the player is a bit shitty and chews up cds pretty badly/quickly. lucky i get discount on them really.
