Re: .
Yeah, many of them are closed minded cause the concept of being a "metal-head" means also being closed minded.
seriosuly... I still love heavy metal and his sub-genres etc.etc. but really I absolutely don't feel "part" of the movement. I don't consider me a so called "metal-head".
When I was 14 years old to the 19/20 years old, I liked wore band t-shirts,I believed in metal as a "faith", as a "religion". Now all this shit sounds totally ridicolous to my eyes.
I love the music, but anyway, I dislike now stuff that I liked many years ago ( I mean for example shit extreme metal or gay-metal as manowar [ their first stuff anyway is good epic metal] ).... , I actually now don't like at all dressing as a metal head. I don't wear the denim jacket with patches from 2004 I think and I don't miss it.
I like leather jackets and "black" dressing, but I really don't like now to go outisde with patches or like a clown. I have friends who are 30 and over years old and still wear in that way. sorry, I find it ridicolous.
+ add the fact that many people talk shit to any other kind of music.
they critcize "disco-people" or "normal people", they hate Christ etc.etc. .....but they have just to realize that they are the same face of the same coin.
Metal is my favourite kind of music, but I dislike the principles of many ridicolous fans.
p.s. this board is very good, cause people is open minded. Examples? Vamphy.
but all of you I think.

Depends on what part of the scene you're talking about.
Elitists, absolutely
Casual fans no
Fanboys..................
I think most people in the "metal scene" are casual fans they appreciate the music but are more than willing to branch out.

Yeah, I think we did. My memory says Imran was the OP, but maybe not.
Anyway, I'd have to agree with what people have been saying. i think things are split into thirds: one third won't listen to anything but metal, one third loves metal and a bit of everything else, and a third only listen to a little metal.

all i actually listen to is death metal but i really like other music, i'm not close minded about it at all. death metal just seems like one of the most if not the most (for me) interesting type of music. in the end it really just depends on how i'm feeling and most of the time i feel like angry, aggressive music.

i really dislike the term open-minded. 99 times out of 100, it's used as an attempt to stuff any kind of argument or criticism, usually rooted in the fact that one party dislikes something another party likes. 'what do you mean you dont like this?! you just aren't open-minded!' i mean really, come the fuck on.
when used in this fashion, it's about as useful in a conversation as pulling the opinion card, or the subjective card, or the bias card. which is to say, completely useless.

I've found that regarding pretty much anything - not just music - it's the people who yell the most that have the least to say.
There's no sense in fussing over what other people listen to, and forming a dogmatic conception of what music is only acts as a self-fulfilling prophecy - turning music into a breeding ground for fungus.
If we're going to grow fungus, it may as well be of the psychoactive and/or Portobello, Shiitake, etc. variety. What were we talking about again?

Not at all. As long as it is super-fruital and technical. Everything else sucks.
I am the Dragon. And you call me insane. You are privy to a great becoming, but you recognize nothing. To me, you are a slug in the sun. You are an ant in the afterbirth. It is your nature to do one thing correctly: Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe.
