yeah.

i think he's uncreative too, but this just popped up when I was watching some Pete vids and I though it was nice to see him play no metal.

Even though he's uber fast, his rolls are predictable. He has the groove element of an actual drummer instead of just focusing on technical wankery like Derek Roddy.

I enjoy the super fast drummers to the extent that I think blast beats naturally sound awesome, but I agree that most of them don't seem creative at all with other elements of drumming. Among death metal (or in this case former death metal) drummers Sean Reinert is the only major exception I can think of.

Doesn't Derrek Roddy play shit like wedding gigs for a living now, or at least in place of death metal drumming?

Dereck Roddy's work on Black Seeds of Vengeance, King of All Kings, and I, Monarch is awesome.

Weddings? He does drum clinics.

I could have sworn he mentioned that in an interview. He said he quit metal because it got to be insulting getting a $500 royalty check a year after all his work on what were relatively "hit" albums.

He was also vocal about Pete's injury, and put out the question of how the other band members were helping him out, how the pay among them varied, what sort of insurance his job offered him for an injury, ect. Turns out Pete was kind of left on his own. Whether he knew that was a possibility beforehand or even cared remains to be seen.

I agree he has more groove than Roddy, but I find Roddy very creative in his ideas & patterns

yeah he does. Just like a lot of musos (i do weddings and shit gigs too).

he plays in pubs and clubs playing jazz and blues and rock etc.

he posted some vids a while ago of some blues pub gig.

he can cut it, but he just doesn't have the authenticity of playing blues/jazz/funk like say that of Marco Minnerman - who plays jazz stuff so authentically it's like Buddy Rich!

If a drummer doesn't aspire to approach Buddy Rich, he or she should fuck the fuck off.

Georges work with sickening Horror was extremely creative. My theory is that when he joined nile, he tried to distance himself from Tony laureanos style with a more brute force approach. His recorded drumming has become marginally more creative with each Nile release. Tony's is still the best Nile drum performance by some amount, although George is a much faster, more clinical, better live drummer.

I absolutely love Derek Roddy's drumming on Black Seeds. I guess a lot of it was thought out by Pete Hammoura at that time, but after that Tony totally killed it on the records. Didn't really like his drumming live, a lot of times it was a bit sloppy. I think George has a lot of creativity but I can't really find it in the latest Nile records. I still think he's amazing at it, no doubt. Karl, Dallas and George definitely fit together well as a band.

There is no doubt that dallas toller-wade is the fucking man. His songs compliment Karl's so well. Also, In the case of lashed to the slave stick, permitting the noble dead and wind of horus he left karl for dead.
