I've never heard anyone break down a mile into yards. It's always half mile, quarter mile, ect. In fact I'd say most casual measurements are made self-referentially like anyway, and for those purposes I'm fine with the retarded way.

I'd prefer we switched over to metric, personally. We do fine on imperial, but it's be more globally efficient if we just fucking switched already.

Actually one of the excuses I remember hearing fOr why we're not on the metric system is because of the sheer Pain in the ass it would be to convert all the measurements on existing infrastructure, blueprints/building permits, design specs, and patents.
