Go.
Mine is Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 10-46s in my RG on Eb tuning. Got some Elixir Polywebs of same gauge for my next string change.

11 - 56 for the B standard/Drop A guitar, 11-52 on the Open C one. I only use D'Addarios these days. It might psychosomatic, but to me they sound nicer, feel smoother and seem to last longer.

Drop A with a 56?
I thought B standard was floppy as fuck with a set of 56.
I use the same as Lavabug right now.

Yeah, they sound like shit and flap all over the place, but I've stuck with them for the past six years because I like being an individual.

Re: Guitarists, what strings do you use and what's your tuning?
It has nothing to do with being metal or anything, dunno why you felt like defending your 'uniqueness' or whatever. It's just that playing 56 in A, or even B (in my opinion) is like fucking a chick with a soft dick. Floppiness all around. Bending the string will often cause the string to go 'outside' the fretboard, and god forbid playing some 16ths on it in that setting. I know because I have tried it.
Personally, I'd never go bellow 60 for low B (62 or 64 for low A). FWIW I find those 7 string regular sets too unbalanced (Dunlop's Heavy Core is cool tho).

Re: Guitarists, what strings do you use and what's your tuning?
I think I might attempt to buy back my old guitar from my fellating lover, fix it back up (not that it's broken, but he's shit at caring for things and it's taking some wear) and tune it up to standard. I feel like it'd be nice to have a guitar in standard around the house, other than my acoustic.

Re: Guitarists, what strings do you use and what's your tuning?
I thought of switching it up to 11-48 a few months back for ein experimental purposes but then it hit me if I'm A-OK with 10-46 why would I change it.

No, that's true. D'Addarios have a "shiny" quality to them. All I use too.

It's strange isn't it? I've tried a few other brands that all felt roughly the same, but always fell down for some reason or another. D'Addarios just feel special.

Re: Guitarists, what strings do you use and what's your tuning?
always preferred "lighter" strings for detuning, mainly for the sound. I hate that woofiness you get with very heavy gauges. its just about finding the middle ground and if you can control your strings

I'm wondering what B standard on a six string will feel like.

Re: Guitarists, what strings do you use and what's your tuning?
Cryptopsy, Intestine baalism, tons of dm bands play 6 strings in B. The real motivation for using heavier gauge strings is intonation. Its impossible for me to sustain a chord in proper tune if the gauge is too low, and I don't pick excessively hard (I do fret hard though). Higher gauge solves the problem of oscillating in and out of tune, plus it sounds brighter and clearer when unplugged. Sustain goes up with tension too.

Sup Uni.
Sheer boredom ---> restringing the guitar with 10-46's in E, with a proper floyd setup, feels sweet. Been ages since I've played an electric in this tuning. I now lack an excuse for not bothering to learn shreddy stuff.
