correct way to adjust string height on my guitar

it's a tune-o-matic string thru. the guitar buzzes on the lower register and looking at the string height it's too low. Being that I haven't owned or even messed with a guitar for 2 years, I kind of forgot

Use the big flathead screws on the bridge and raise it in small increments equally on both sides til it stops buzzing. Also check if your neck has warped (bent), if it has you might need a truss rod adjustment.

Yeah, Lavagod is correct, I actually lowered my string height on my guitar (with the same bridge) yesterday.

I'll probably take it somewhere and have it looked at to make sure the neck isn't warped, it doesn't look warped to me but the low e string buzzes at the 11th fret and only there so it very well may need to be set up.

Either that or the fret may have slipped and may require being hammered into place. Best bet is to leave it to a professional.



I should really find a guitar tech sometime, I get the feeling my set-ups could be a lot better. I never got my Universe to play really well, which was why I sold it.

I drove out to the town I used to live in to have my guitar set up by the hard-on bearer who ran the music store out there today. Guitar Center wanted some obscene amount of money, somewhere between $40-50 dollars to do the bare minimum. He only charged $20 including strings for a full set-up, checked the electronics, cleaned it up and used linseed oil on the fretboard



It plays fucking awesome now, no buzz or nothing and the action is low and buttery

one thing to always keep in mind: low action is highly overrated



it's better to have slightly higher action, not only will it make one a better player, the sound will be much more robust
