MORBID ANGEL Fans Are 'Too Extreme' For Security At Santiago

Post by rhino »

Ivan Vega of ChileConcert has posted a short video clip of fans overpowering security guards and forcing their way into Teatro Teletón in Santiago, Chile Thursday night (September 8) during MORBID ANGEL's concert at the venue. Check out the footage below.

When asked in a recent interview with Finland's Kaaos TV how the material from MORBID ANGEL's new album, "Illud Divinum Insanus", has been going over live, MORBID ANGEL bassist/vocalist David Vincent said, "[The fans] love it live. A few people, maybe some of the songs on the record are a bit too extreme for them, but by and large it's a great record. It's doing really well. A lot of excitement. We're happy to play all these songs live. Obviously, [in] the set we also include a lot of the other classics. This way everyone will have a chance to hear a lot of the different songs that they wanna hear."

Regarding whether he and his bandmates expected to get such a mixed reaction to "Illud Divinum Insanus" during the making of the CD, Vincent said, "Well, the only thing we do is make music and we're creative. We don't think about these things so much. We do what we do. My work is done, other than we perform. But the studio is done. We made a record that broke down a lot of boundaries and included some stuff that was never included before. But we've always done these kind of things. It should be no surprise to anyone that we always do crazy things, 'cause we crazy."

"Illud Divinum Insanus" sold around 3,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 141. The effort marks MORBID ANGEL's first CD to feature bassist/vocalist Vincent since 1995's "Domination".

MORBID ANGEL's previous album, "Heretic", opened with around 3,900 units back in October 2003. That CD has shifted more than 30,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"Illud Divinum Insanus" was released on June 7 (one day earlier internationally) via Season of Mist. The cover artwork was designed by Gustavo Sazes

this is just ridiculous, I mean what RHINO did here is kinda hilarious, but still...why do MORBID keep talking bullshit like: "...the fans love it live..." a few people....blablabla some songs are too extreme for them..." I'M SOMEHOW STARTING TO LOOSE IT COMPLETELY WITH THIS BAND...still can't believe all this!

they are such full of shit. there are times when bands release an album that is not appreciated by fans but goes on to become legend. this is not of those times. the new album is shit and MA are full of shit if the believe otherwise.

I am actually starting to "not like" (no f-book connotation here) MA anymore!!!

didn't watch them in WACKEN this year, didn't buy IDI and I'm definately NOT gonna watch them on the upcoming touring-cycle!!! and this is not because I wanna be "anti"-anything or sth.

can't believe it myself...

oh by the way, this IS extreme (for real!) check the 1:27 mark

the fans were too extreme for security

someone should remake the "I'm Too Sexy for my Shirt" song into "I'm too Extreme for my band".

How will they ever live this album down ...

... I really, really hope there is another MA album. To end like this would be abysmally sad for their legacy.

somehow I still think IDI is an accident...maybe they wanted to do things differently, but then the pete-thing came up. I've heard there were some scheduling conflicts at MANA STUDIOS (that's mayby why they only recorded drums for 6 songs there?). MAYBE!?!?!?!?

the entire album sounds 'rushed' to me. nothing occurs to be like well-rounded or even properly produced (soundwise). and when the dealine for the production got closer they might have been forced to make the best out of the situation!

don't get me wrong, I'm not defending this piece of garbage they unleashed upon us, IDI still sucks!

I would agree except for the fact that they spent a good four years writing the damn thing. no, sorry. this was no accident.
