[Spirits of the Deep Waters]

Does anyone have experiance with these guitars? I've never played one, but I'd really like to have one of those from the early gloryhole era . I love the look of them for sure. How rare are they? How much is a resonable price? Uni!

Good guitars. Both the old and new ones. They sell mostly factory direct in the states. The new shipping makes them ridiciously expensive in Europe now. Once in a while they pop up second hand for not that much.

I do not like the shapes of their newer style models that much, though the california carved top is gorgeous and their take on the Les Paul is cool too.



Since you are so interested in eighties style guitars, have you checked out the Charvel Pro line? Both the San dimas and So-cal are super guitars. Had a So-cal here for a days and i loved it.

I hope to find one second hand then! No I have actually never played a Pro Line but I would buy one directly if I found one, San Dimas is superb! Is there a major diffrence between San Dimas and So cal? The So cal is not as expensive but I have never played one. The 750XL is also another want of mine but alot of people tell me that the older Jackson Soloist is pretty much the same but better???

I've got a Carvin, and it's easily one of the nicest feeling guitars I've handled. I'd absolutely say go for it. Can't vouch for the price, but I'd imagine you could get one on ebay for $300-400.

I Mean the Japanese Pro series. It has both the san dimas and Socal in that line. At Thomann they sell for around 670 euros. The So-Cal has a pickguard the other not and the pup configuration differs from model to model. They are amazing and really unbelievable what you get for the price. A good case is inluded, strap locks, OFR and DiMarzio or Duncans.



You are mixing thinks up a little concerning the Jacksons. Begin era of the gloryhole Jackson had a japanese line of guitars which were awesome. When the Japanese Jacksons started to outsell the US Jackson because the quality was so good, they discontinued them. To have a "Cheaper" alternative next to the US Jacks they started the first Import Charvel line. Those are basicly the same guitars as the discontinued Jacks only with the toothpaste Charvel logo and they have rosewood boards. Any of the Model 5 and up range are awesome guitars and equal any jackson Soloist. I used to have a 650XL wich was a great guitar. I sold it as i had (have) too many guitars barely played it and needed space.

I used to have a Carvin white v very similar to these, an ultra-v. Great guitar which I fitted emgs to and used on our debut album alongside the universe. I sold the guitar a few years ago to Alex de Moller from Scythian, as he made me a good offer and I hadn't played it much for years.

My fellating lover had a DC125 and it was a good guitar but the set neck did make it hard to adjust and get perfectly setup. I've had a few Charvel's from san dimas and fort worth, great guitars also.

how much wood did you have to hack out to get an EMG in there?

I have had a lot of guitars with EMGs in them (bought that way, did not last long). None of them were or had to be re-routed for fit. The seventring EMG's are odd sized. The regular ones fit nine out of ten times. Some pickguards have to be widened though. A hard-on bearer i know puts a 85 in every guitar he has. And he never rerouted anything either, not even his old US Riches.

I had an oil finished Koa wood DC 125 (I think that was the model) before I switched to a BC Rich 7-string Beast (pictured in my avatar). The Carvin had the nicest neck/action of any guitar that I have owned and sounded great, too.
