rebirth of my Charvel

Post by M.Bison »

Cannibalising some old guitars and bringing my beloved Charvel Model 5a back to life. Ripped a Bareknuckle Nailbomb from my beat up old Charvette and getting a new bridge put on the 5a.

The question is, what colour trem to get? Chrome or Chrome Black are the options?

I think black looks old school and better on red. But I guess chrome can also work if you look at Trey's guitars.

The chrome on red is more old school. There was a time there was no black hardware at all. Thats why i am gonna get chrome hardware on the guitar that is in the works for me now. Ferrari red and chrome :bang:

I've been interested in the Nailbomb pickup for quite a while now, but the price always stopped me. You're pretty keen on it then?

Yeah it works well for me. Best pickup I have tried, though I don't have that much experience. EMG707, EMG81, Dimarzio D-Activators, Dimarzio Paf Pro-7's, stock RG7620's...

It's a strange feel, has a big low end and plenty of mids and it's dark, but it isn't muddy and stays tight with good dynamics. Goes well with my bright model5a (maple/poplar)

Not sure it's for you devy if you like the high output active sound, you'd maybe want the ceramic version or maybe another pickup altogether.

I was very impressed with the Nailbomb samples I heard in the past. The problem is that both my guitars are mahogany, so they're naturally bassier than a Barry White vomiting session. If I ever get a dream custom guitar, I think an alder body with Nailbombs in it could be a contender.
