Use Soundcloud instead.

And I agree. That production is awesome, it sounds really oldschool. Those vocals are sick! And I love the snare sound too.

Thanks! Yeah the production turned out great actually. It's recorded digital but still with a raw edge to it!

Small update: The Sarge started working on the final mix today. The basic levels and sounds for drums, bass and guitars are done. Next up work on the vocals, leads and harmonies. I did a lot of layering vocal wise and all that stuff needs to find its place in the songs.

So far so good though. I like what he has done very much. :bang:

It's not just basic levels, it's the whole SHABANG of EQs, compressors, reverbs, filters, tape saturation, transient designers, etc. etc. :redneck:

But I must say, I wasn't expecting such good hardware simulation but the Waves plug-in bundles have really showed their power. The old Neve EQ's, SSL channels, API EQ's and the lovely CLA and Tubetech compressors really pulled it off. Not many plug-ins come close to their original hardware sisters, but boy did I find some jizzable studio geek sounds. Plus the summing of my new Dangerous Music D-Box analog summer does put it's analog soul into it.

:thingy:

But I also must say that when I start working with these plug-ins, and their hardware variaties, it's really a reality check. If you haven't done your homework, not even a 500.000 dollar SSL console will make it happen for you.

Hey Vahmpy, where do you find Tubetech emulations in Waves bundle, I mean - what's their name?

To my knowledge, only Softube have made an emu of Tubetech (that would be their CL1B plugin, which is awesome of course - I use it pretty much regularly, along with Rocket from Stillwell and CLA comps).

I really want to get started making some downbeat / ambient type electronic music. I have messed around with stuff on Reason before but never created anything particularly good or finished. The problem now is that I'm using Reaper, since I no longer have access to Reason, which is a lot more stripped down interface wise and I'm having trouble setting everything up so I can get started. If anyone has any links or information for absolute beginners then please post...

Whatever you want to do with ambient stuff, your best bet is to download Spectrasonics Omnisphere VSTi. It's huge (something along the lines of 35gb), but it's arguably the best VSTi for sound synthesis out there.

As far as Reaper go, download their user guide from <!-- m -->http://www.reaper.fm/userguide/ReaperUserGuide375c.pdf<!-- m -->

That is your best source for learning Reaper, if we take video tutorials out.

I use Reaper just for drum editing and for its tab-to-transient option (which doesn't exist in Cubase), and for audio-to-midi conversion for triggering drum samples. So I don't know much about it, but it's a cool little DAW nevertheless. :santa:

edit: the problem you have, if I can call it like that, is because Reason has, seemingly, all the stuff from the get go, so you can start making some music right away. With Reaper you only have DAW, so you must get external VSTi. But I tell ya, get yourself Omnisphere. Kicks monstrous ass.

Cheers man! I'll check out the Reaper guide and the Omnisphere looks great too. I'd worked out that I was going to need to aquire some external VSTi's but there's so many I had absolutely no idea of where to start.
