Yeah, the tidbit about the Steve era was interesting but everything else was just "this is the best album we've ever done" drivel.

So Trey had demo's for only 3 songs: so much for the lava flowing of the riff daddy..I hope Trey reverts to his old 'non partying but being glued to the guitar' mode..



About the best record drivel: I actually tend to believe him if it's the best record HE has ever done, since I think his vocals are very good from what I've heard thusfar

This album is far from being "rushed" or under-writting. So don't worry about that. Question is whether you're going to like what Trey came up with. If you like Existo then I'm sure you'll like Blades For Ball, Nevermore, Ten More Dead and Beauty Meets Beast. So that's five tracks with leads and everything. The rest is... It worked for me and I personally think it's 100% Morbid Angel. But some people might not be able to get into it.

I never liked vincent doing growls, his voice was so rare and evil in those 1st two albums.

I dont like him just for that, changing his vocal style, i dont hate him for the clothes he wear or if he hates tucker era or not.

I love Death Metal a fuck load. It's my favorite genre. but I also dig bands like Ministry and although I really don't listen to it, Hardcore techno is not a completely crappy genre I think. If the the rest of the songs besides the "classic" sounding songs that I already dig a lot (Existo, Nevermore etc.) are an awesome Morbid Angel-sounding blend of killer Trey riffing with new elements that take the sound to a bizzare new level, then I think this will work For me too.

You know Trey liked his Covenant vocals best? That is also what he was looking for when Tucker stepped in. I think the development of his voice was just natural progression. He even said he was very happy with what he was able to do vocally after quitting smoking and having more lung capacity.

I like his voice on the first three. IMO his Altars style would not have fitted C and vice-versa. Somehow his tone of voice always gelled really well with the music of the individual records (even D). Something that definetly lacked on FFttF. Although that is still one of my favorites. I'm sure David would have struggled with it tremendously as well. Trey came up with some weird shit vocal line wise.

Trey told Aardschok during the Entangled release that he was looking for a Covenant style vocalist. I might sound like 'cursing in the church' but vocalswise, I feel that Trey did a better job on FFttF than Tucker concerning conviction and characteristics; elements that Tucker had obtained on Gateways imo. Also what Tucker lacked in David Vincent-level personality, he made up with his barbaric sound

It's nice to think he doesn't hate the Tucker era material; however, during the Tucker era, he had nothing nice to say about it (and arrogance was the least of how it came across, back then). Only now is there something that is not negative. Maybe he is bullshitting now to be nice, or maybe he simply had a slight of bitterness back then and has now enjoyed some of it on a less biased ear. One can only speculate on all of that and I am just happy to read him saying something positive of it.

These are only words though. The fact stands that he sang only one song, badly, and didn't even learned the lyrics. Actions speak louder than words, as always, so we'll see. I hope they'll play F-H songs on the future tours.

I think that the more songs they play from F - H the more there will be people from the Pro-Steve kamp bashing him. Even if he mastered the lyrics perfectly. As people did with Steve when he came in. Also i think there quite a lot of songs that just do not fit his voice. As i felt with Steve. Some older ones needed a more sublte approach which wasn't Steve.

Great interviews ! I was disappointed when I've heard existo vulgore, but now I can't wait for the album ! I'm sure it will be great as a whole ! And I'm ready to hear some weird stuff, it's not a problem for me as long as it is good and dark and morbid !



About what David says on F, G & H: I've never thought he doesn't like these albums, actually I don't care ! But I've always thought that he doesn't want to play those songs because some have been written or co-written by Tucker, and imo he is not comfortable with the vocals patterns, he has not enough feeling to sing these lyrics and his vocals don't really fit the songs from that era !

Ok, on F Trey wrote the lyrics, but Tucker wrote all lyrics on H and most on G. But on F I think it's the vocals patterns that are very different from what David use to sing !

Trey wrote Angel of Disease, Evil Spells and Blasphemy aswell. There might be some other stuff.

Are you kidding me? He completely dodged the bullet there. 'I have my tracks that I like on each of those records.' - hardly resounding enthusiasm. 'Trey is a very special guitar player.' - Well, fucking obviously. Its fairly obvious that his problem isnt with the tucker era per se, It's an ego thing.

Hey guys, I conducted the interview with Dave for Sludge Factory. When I asked him about the Tucker era stuff I was really probing for any statement that seemed disingenuous but he seemed pretty straight up. Sure, he might still have been lying but it seemed like the real deal when I was talking to him.
