"stroke me, for i wish to orgasm". So basically Ironman thinks that

A.) Uni and Void's negative jedi mind tricks have fooled us into disliking the greatest death metal song of the last 8 years.

And/or

B.) The greatest death metal song of the last 8 years is so "great" that said jedi mind tricks can change people's opinion of it. The awesomeness of the song doesn't factor in.

Doesn't say a whole lot for your opinion of us, OR said awesome song.

I guess Trey was right: "it's cool to be fooled."

This is why being a fanboy is bad.I think some of you people would have been disapointed even if it were the best song ever made.

Sure we're overanalyzing it. How can we not? It's been eight years and a lot of us have been on a journey with this band for 20 years and more.

You havn't been on a journey with this band, you are not part of the band, you do not opperate on the same level, they are not the same as 20 years ago and this is discussed in multiple threads.

Look I know they are like "spiritual teachers" to some of you but come the fuck on..most people have expected this kind of material since D.

The song is ok,it's pretty catchy, has a somewhat decent sound,Vincent surprisingly sounds ok apart from the lyrics.Could have been worse. What this song means to you and what it means to the band may be entirely different things.

don't fanboys typically demonstrate a level of devotion bordering on irrationality? i'm not sure that's the best word to throw around. especially since you seem to be directing it specifically at those of us who are critical of the new song, in which case it's just completely wrong.

maybe you meant 'having expectations' is bad, that jives a lot better with the rest of your post.
This is why being a fanboy is bad.I think some of you people would have been disapointed even if it were the best song ever made.
Yeah, I don't think "fanboy" means what you think it does, as someone else pointed out (but it bears repeating). A fanboy would bow to the song faithfully (and splendidly, more than likely) no matter what it sounded like.
You havn't been on a journey with this band,
Sorry, I should have clarified...I was speaking figuratively, not literally. Thought it was obvious. To be clear, I just meant that I've followed the band since I was maybe 12 (so about 20 years, for me), bought their albums and merch, seen them live many times, and have had the good fortune to talk to them at length on many occasions. And that their music has meant a lot to me. But no, I have not literally been on a journey with them.
you are not part of the band,
Correct! Let me just make it clear...I am not in the band, in case anyone was confused.
you do not opperate on the same level,
Not really for you to say, is it? What does that even mean? If you mean that I haven't written a song as good as "Rebel Lands," then I must reluctantly agree.
they are not the same as 20 years ago and this is discussed in multiple threads.
Oh cool, I thought I was the only one that had noticed that they aren't the same as 20 years ago.
Look I know they are like "spiritual teachers" to some of you but come the fuck on..most people have expected this kind of material since D.
I don't consider them, or anyone else, to be spiritual teachers. If anyone does, though, I'm pretty sure you are coming off as condescending (and cunty!) towards them. Besides, what difference does it make if we expected it to sound this way or that? I don't see how that changes anyone's current impressions of the tune.
The song is ok,it's pretty catchy, has a somewhat decent sound,Vincent surprisingly sounds ok apart from the lyrics.Could have been worse. What this song means to you and what it means to the band may be entirely different things.
I completely agree, the song is OK and it could have been worse. Also, I would hope that it means something different to me than it does to them, since they wrote it (I'm not in the band...see above). As a listener, when you actually give enough of a shit to read lyrics and go a little below the surface...isn't that the whole idea, to have your own experience/impressions/interpretation, etc? Isn't the blasphegram a symbol of individual thought?

Also despite all the talk of negativity and what not...has anyone said anything really BAD about this song? I haven't seen anyone say "this is a piece of shit" or "this is the worst song I've ever heard." About the worst thing I've heard anyone say is "it's not as good as I wanted it to be" or (gasp!) "I'm disappointed." Overall...even for a Morbid Angel board, hasn't it been overall a pretty good response?

By the way, you deserve an award for having the most appropriate handle. Try washing it out...at least give it a rinse?

Actually, I agree, and I'm really excited about Macabre Eternal. My fellating lover built them some custom guitars, which they used in the studio. Actually it's Marc from Ikon customs.

Yeah, DustyVagina, I probably should have shut up. You irritated me, like dust in a pussy. Like I said, appropriate name.

On a related note--how many of you guys are skeptical about the album, kinda disappointed in what we've heard/read, but still ordered the box? I did.

Hey, I think Autopsy had some pics on their facebook page. I know for sure Marc posted some on the ikoncustoms.com message board. I can dig up a link later if you don't find it. Basically the guitars look like the cover of Mental Funeral.

He also just made one for Ted "Nocturno Culto." I'll get on later and post links. Maybe it should be a new thread though?

Nocturno Culto:

Honestly I was skeptical since I haven't played any of Marc's customs (he sculpted a Universe for me as a Morbid Angel tribute, but obviously he didn't make that one), but the Autopsy guys evidently love them, invitied him down to the studio while they were tracking Macabre. He called me and held the phone up to the booth while Reifert was tracking vocals. It was pretty metal.

I guess we're far off topic now, sorry.

even if this were going to be album of the decade, i couldn't justify the expense. collectors edition stuff in any medium just winds up collecting dust. the amount of free space I have here comes into consideration as well, that thing is fucking huge and i simply have nowhere to put it.

i'll drop money for the retail disc when it hits stores, but that's all i'm willing to shell out for, none of the other packages appeal to me at all really. i would've considered the shirt package if i thought i'd ever wear it out, but i probably wouldn't (and it's a bit overpriced to boot).

Yeah, to be 100% honest...I ordered the box the night before the track by track came out. Then when I read the write up I felt like a jerk off. Oh well. There's always eBay if it's horrible.

You know this song is going to completely crush live when played a little faster at 125db+ though a big-ass PA system!
I am the Dragon. And you call me insane. You are privy to a great becoming, but you recognize nothing. To me, you are a slug in the sun. You are an ant in the afterbirth. It is your nature to do one thing correctly: Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe.

I can definitely see it being a big live song. That "Vulgooore" seems designed for crowd participation.

Yeah, I think the Resistor came out really well. They're kind of bizarre guitars...I guess there's some kind of a wooden "core" but most of the body is this resin shell. And the headstocks are detachable.

Pics of them in the studio with the guitars:

He does that live in some song also. Singing the "echo" himself, not using a delay on the vocals.

The Latin-English online translator says "to become to spread" for Existo Vulgore. I'm assuming Existo is 'to become' and Vulgore is 'to spread'. Can our resident Latin expert shine some more light?

I thought it was supposed to mean something along the lines of: "my existence is vulgar", there's a part in the song where he sings something in Latin yes? Or some other language, I heard "niño" in there somewhere.

and tbh, some parts of the song are stuck in my head, I guess that's a good thing?
