Yeah I know.
This kind proofs how far can a human being go just for appearance
And I've been there once, but soon I realized the stupidity I was doing I stoped immediately.
But I was taking steroid (testosterone) and not this oils stuff.

If you knew then why did you name this thread "steroids"?
Also, they're not just for appearance, how about performance/recovery?

Re: Steroids ...
I am torn on the whole steroid issue. On the one hand, I lean towards permitting their use after a certain age. Certain people are born with genetic mutations that make them superior physical specimens, and steroids can narrow the gap in competitive ability. I also think problems tend to work themselves out. If people want to treat their bodies as a chemistry set, by all means. The smart ones will do the intelligent thing and seek doctor supervision, or simply not partake at all. The dumb ones will find a whole range of health problems waiting.
On the other hand, this could be a whole escalation issue. Contact sports might see more injuries as players get bigger, stronger and faster. Non-steroid users might see themselves crowded out as steroid users become more prevalent.
Given the two options, I lean towards the second. It is difficult to have a compromise that sees steroids permitted for injury recovery, because that system is too easily gamed.
As far as strength competition goes, fuck it. What is the point in even trying to ban it?

HGH can supposedly prevent midgetism.
As far as strength sports go, I think everyone can see the merit in putting up serious weight without any enhancements.

I tought the word steroids in english could be used for all this substances.
And at least over here, 99,99% of the people who use steroids, do it just to gain muscles and "to be cool". It's a trend.

Re: Steroids ...
i agree, zambon.
I think in the UK steroids are legal for private use, but resale is illegal (if that makes sense?). I have nothing against other people using whatever they want (I would prefer the regulated sale), but it is up to a sports federation to make its own rules...
I lean towards (supporting) drug free in sports because the more competitive it gets, the more risks people will take with their health.

Re: Steroids ...
The term "steroids" covers a vast range of things. I'm not sure what actually define a steroid, but, for example, testosterone, estrogen, and cortisol are steroids and they have pretty diverse fucking effects. And numerouse effects at that. I guess the issue isn't really about whether these "supplements" are "steroids" or not though.
I don't care about sports, but their whole thing seems to be based on the participants agreeing on some arbitrary set of rules and then proceeding from there to unleash the warrior within. I don't really care what they allow. I think they just let everyone consume whatever they want. Maybe.
With regard to these things being sold to the general public, I fear a whole lot of bullshit speculative claims and not a whole lot of actual evidence of any of the supplements' effects.

That's more of what happens now with supplements claiming to be as good as steroids.

"As good as steroids" is a ridiculous statement that could only be made be someone who's either stupid or ignorant. What steroids? And as good at what? Etc. Etc Etc.

Or clever enough to make money off of other people's ignorance.
I guess most people mean androgens and HGH. I hear some combine androgens with anti-estrogen pills to avoid side effects from all the hormonal fuckery (gyno).

I don't know how I forgot that one.
Because it's what I suspect is the main reason.

Using "anti-estrogens" to counter side-effect of androgens and growth hormone? I don't know much about hormones, but that certainly doesn't make sense.
Side note - that you may know already: Most common cause of too much growth hormone is a wee benign brain tumor. If it occurs when the person is young (before the growth plates in their bones fuse), they may grow to be very large. That tallest dude ever had one. Plenty of negative effects though (even if you don't include the ubertallness), but I'm not sure what they are exactly.
If the hormone level is too high after the growth plates are fused, they don't get any taller, but they do morph into a characteristic appearance, along with many other negative effects.
And those tumors are typically removed through people's noses.

What I've read: supposedly taking testosterone-type things on their own creates some imbalances and makes you produce more estrogen, which results in developing breasts/gynecomastia.

Re: Steroids ...
i have not read much into steroids because i have no interest in taking them right now but this is what i understand:
taking steroids increases testosterone levels, with that your body produces more estrogen (leading to a few negative side effects - bitch tits/gyno being the main one), to counter act this people take anti-estrogen supplements and then go through something after a steroid "cycle" called PCT (post cycle therapy).
yea, what lava just said.

I'm not sure what you mean, but Greg Valentinos arm was behind the IMDB link.
Start watching this from 2:00 mark.

Re: Steroids ...
The docu is fairly misleading. He got his arms like that by injecting synthol (think botox, but its mostly oil) directly into his muscles, not from using steroids. Then he got a huge infection.

This was strange. The main hard-on bearer didn't use himself but the conclusion was it's alright to use steroids?
