Trey's side DJ project

You can sort of detect a style of riffing (in bass) that is similar to Lord of all Fevers and Plagues there

Re: Trey's side DJ project
Yeah, this does nothing for me. It commits the worst musical sin of all: it's boring. And given the "composer," it's even worse than that--it's very ORDINARY.
Maybe I haven't listened to enough electronic stuff to judge, but it sounds a lot like all the other stuff I've heard in this style. Maybe a little more abrasive.
I just listened to a couple of Combichrist songs. Not into it, but I'd listen to those songs over this "The Core" track any day.

Absolute drivel. Does not bode well, in any way, for the 'techno' tracks on the new album. It's beyond bad. It's worse than the stuff the boy racers would have pumping out of their lowered Fiestas 20 years ago. With his musical chops you'd at least expect him to do some thinking man's techno along the lines of the Warp records roster or even Kraftwerk style. This is like a 13 year old's first attempt on the cheapest, nastiest techno application! Boo.

Trey should pack this in and start an ambient project. I want to here more tracks like Abyssous and Hymn to a Gas Giant.

Did he actually quit playing the guitar? I cannot conceive of doing such a thing whilst physically still capable.

Re: Trey's side DJ project
Well, he sold his guiter to Trey:
<!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1873">viewtop ... &t=1873</a><!-- l -->
and when Mike Browning asked him to participate on the 2008 European Nocturnus tour, he declined.
If he had time from his company and got in touch with a guitar again, maybe he will start again?
"Mike Davis has given up music and moved on to a stable job and family life, managing his own computer business."

I'm interested in this demo btw: does anybody know if it's available somewhere?
02.23.2001 - Thanks to Bob Vincent for the following information:
After leaving Nocturnus, Gino Marino made it to Atlanta, Georgia, where he started a new band called Euphoria. They recorded one demo, started working on some new material then Gino disappeared. According to Bob Vincent that demo really kick ass – it blows Nocturnus out of the water (and Bob likes Nocturnus). The new material that they were working on was supposedly even better than that demo, but unfortunately none of it was recorded. Gino sent Mike Browning copies of that demo, possibly with the idea of them working together again.

Re: Trey's side DJ project
I just don't get how someone can quit playing an instrument, especially guitar.

Sounds interesting, I'd also like to hear it if possible. Mike Browning has some webpresence (Myspace, Youtube etc.) so maybe he could be contacted for a copy.

I did once, for almost a year. I was in a band (and best friends with the drummer) that almost drove me to hate music. I left them (including my fellating lover) and didn't think about picking up the guitar for a long time.
